He wants a constituational amendement on outlawing gay marriage...WTF? We are AT WAR!!! our jobless rate is one of the highest in years, children have no healthcare and all he can do is worry about 2 people who love each other who want to get married? And he has the gall to say that he needs to protect the welfare of children? Okay, Bush how about look at the foster care system in our country? how about get new books for our kids in school? how about worry that children are homeless, abused, hungry?

I guess he needs to make a few American happy since he cannot fix any of the REAL problems!

I am aware of this but one of the fundamental issues with gay marriages is procreation, which interracial couples are still able to do naturally and gay couples cannot.

So does this mean that an infertile heterosexual couple should also not be allowed to marry?

IMO, So What? There are plenty of kids in our country's foster care system that NEED loving homes....so, if gay couples get married and are willing to adopt, what's the problem?

This is such a diversion tactic for Bush and his supporters...they are in such deep $hit over the war mess, that they are trying to win the election by playing up this issue and getting the weak-minded people of our country to vote for him! What a LOSER!

Is there not a little thing called our Bill of Rights that in the first amendment states
' Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.' . Now, I understand this (as I was taught in school ) to mean that there is a separation of church and state. It seems to me that the President is currently using religious resoning to try and get this passed, therefore making it a violation of our Bill of Rights.

What sanctity is he defending? Since when is the love between two people, breaking the sanctity of marriage? Why is a union between 2 gay people more offensive than The Bachelor/ette, The Littlest Groom, My Big, Fat Obnoxious...?? Why is the definition of marriage, procreation? And couples who cannot reproduce - their marriage should be nullified?

People can get paid a million dollars to sensationalize 'reality' and get married.... but two people who are truly in love, who truly want to be with each other and who truly have a deep and honest connection cannot because we need to protect the 'sanctity' of marriage? What a load of cr@p!!!

What does that have to do with my point. They don't have to get married to aopt, and who says that marriage will necesarily make it any easier. And it really isn't a diversion, it is a monumental issue that will force voters to take sides. Most Americans were very much in favor of this 'war on terror' until the $hit hit the fan and people started realizing that you can't destroy 2 countries(afghan. and iraq) and promise to rebuild it while your country plunges further into debt, and then fail to come up with the 'weapons' of mass destuction' that supposedly caused this war in the first place.

eta - not very surprising from a man who can't even even say nuclear...........nu-cu-lur is not a word

I doubt it would happen. He can't just wish on the Bill of Rights. It has to be voted on and then if it is ever passed, I can tell you it will come before the Supreme Court pretty damn quick. Once that happens, who knows...
