I was just wondering can certain types of dresses get only 1 type of a bustle? I had my 1st fitting, and i was never asked the woman did what i think was a '9 point' bustle but never asked me to see other options. My dress is a Maggie Sottero Sarchi (pic attached) i dont really like the way this looks i want it to show off the dress detail more on the bottom. Maybe it doesnt look that good because it is just pinned, please help Thank you Vanessa
Because my train has so much work on it, I am going to do an under bustle (is that the right terminology?) I would call and tell them you want your dress bustled differently if you don't want a 9 point bustle

IMO it is really hard to tell because I can't see the whole train in the picture . . . When did you go for this? I honestly thing another bustling option would look better, but that is just my personal taste coming through, I'm sure either way it will look beautiful.

This is what I am doing too! I love it done because you dont see the train at all and you dont lose any detail of hte back of the dress!
With my dress, the seamstress pined the train up 3 different ways for me to chose which bustle I liked best! Dotn just settle fo rthey do unless you like it!

I have no clue the name of my bustle... but when I was at the dress shop the lady who was helping me did mentioned 2 or 3 different types... I chose the one that showed off the most detial of the dress...

I don't have pics, but an under bustle looks just like the back of your dress, but no train- the skirt part is even all the way around on the bottom, and the train actually bustles underneath the skirt . . .
If you are not happy, CALL THEM!!!!!

I agree. IMO I dont like the bustle they gave you. It does not faltter the dress..but then again we cant see the whole train either. There are other options. Perhaps its best to go into the salon and see them.

I have a Maggie too, and originally the seamstress told me I had to do something like what you have. I told her I want an underbustle, she did it and now she admits it looks much better. Here are some photos of mine from one of my fittings (it's not done yet) - it's from the back and left and right sides.
WOW thank you lIJuneBride I love that type of bustle so much more flattering. Its called an underbustle, im gonna print pics and bring them in thanks ladies

Re: Bustle Question? please help
I had a double French bustle, which I'm not sure would look right on your dress but I really have no clue! I had a ballgown and I think that a double French bustle is perfect on a ballgown. You can do just a single French bustle. Anyways, look into different bustles; you should be able to have them do whatever you want! If I hadn't mentioned the double French bustle to my seamstress, she probably would've just done a traditional one. ETA that a french bustle is also referred to an under bustle (I think) because it goes under instead of over. LIJuneBride has a single French bustle with the material laying flat. I did mine with the material poofed out.

Hi Nessa- I agree- I think your dress may flow better with a frenchbustle (under bustle) like LIJunebrides.
That way you could see the detail of your dress and it will sit smoother and enhance the cut of your dress.
It seems your dress looks very similiar to hers.

I had a Maggie dress too. I love the kind of bustle that LIJuneBride has, but I didn't think it would look right because my train had a lot of detail. I found a picture from one of my fittings. I don't know what my bustle was called but it had loops and ribbons underneath so the dress just kind of folded up under so you didn't see the train at all.

Oh that is exactly what I want then!!!

I had a French bustle and all you had to do was to tie it up (under the skirt - there were colored strings that you matched with the same color - very easy)

Dress twin: I had like yours but five points and honestly, would have much preferred like LIJuneBride's picture. Also I think my buttons were higher than in your pic (gonna see if I can find one of my pictures).
I liked the way it looked SOMETIME ... everytime we *just* fixed it and had it lay the way I wanted. There are some of my pictures where I think it looks ridiculous!
TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT!!!! I thought I was speaking my mind by telling them to go to six buttons from three (which looked HORRIBLE) ... still not sure why i only have five but water under the bridge ...
