Bustle Ties vs. Buttons w/pic of my dress

Which is better? How do the ties work? I bought my dress on ebay so I have to tell my tailor exactly what I want to do. Any ideas?

Re: Bustle Ties vs. Buttons w/pic of my dress

That is a gorgeous dress. I would say ties. I hear a lot about buttons popping off....
who designed that dress? It's BEAUTIFUL!

ETS: Your best bet is probably to ask the seamstress....

Re: Bustle Ties vs. Buttons w/pic of my dress

Thanks, it is a Vera Wang. I saw it and just knew! It's an original sample. I've been having trouble finding an experienced person to do my hem and create a bustle so I think that I will just let my tailor do it. Only problem is that I have to be really specific, and I don't know too much about bustles... Here's a pic of the front.

Re: Bustle Ties vs. Buttons w/pic of my dress

What a beautiful dress and an awesome eBay find!!

I got my dress at a sample sale and it needs to be altered A Lot. My seamstress is awesome (she's actually a wedding gown designer and seamstress on the side - so she knows her stuff!) and she's a complete sweetheart! FM me if you want her contact info.

What do ties look like when the train is down? Can you see them?

Re: Bustle Ties vs. Buttons w/pic of my dress

My MOH got married in June, and her bustle was ties.

Let's just say she almost didn't make it to the first dance because of that bustle. If you want details FM me.

Go with the buttons. they're easier, and they can always be reattached should they pop off. The ties make things a lot more complicated.

Re: Bustle Ties vs. Buttons w/pic of my dress

I love your dress! It is absolutely beautiful. I would go with ties, only cuz I have heard stories of buttons popping off. You can't see the ties, they are all underneath. You should probably go to one of the seamstresses the girls recommend because they do wedding dresses. I am having my ties color coded so they are easy to tie up.
