So can you just chose a style of bustle for ANY dress?My dress has pickups so I don't think I have many options. I was talking to a woman at my job and she said they can do any bustle on any dress. Is that true?
Technically I guess yes, but some bustles don't look right with all dresses.
With a pickup dress, I think a french or double french bustle usually looks good. They can usually add more pickups to the back to make the bustle that way. I don't think the 'regular' bustle where they just pull the skirt up in the back and pin it would look right with a pickup skirt, but I could be wrong - never seen that done.

I agree - a pickup dress will look best with a french bustle rather then the traditional. The woman that's doing your alterations can do it whichever way you'd like, she may ask you - but they also are very good about suggesting which bustle looks best.
When I went for mine, she asked which bustle I wanted and I said 'Whichever one won't make my butt look big'
