but I went to their wedding!

Original post by Newsysuzy12

I hate to do another pouty post...but I am surprised by the people who RSVP'ed no, even though I went to their wedding. In the case of one family member, I did her makeup and paid for all the products. Several others I traveled across the country for, sometimes immediately after working all night.
Maybe not everyone feels the same way, but I would move heaven and earth to be at a family member or close friend's wedding. I'm just surprised the people I traveled for, (and for years I lived in Minnesota so everything was a big trip), can't find a way to be there for me.
At the end of the day I am going to have to be happy for the people who are coming, and enjoy the day. I'm just not there yet.

You really realize who is there for you and not.
It is sooo amazing what you find out during this process

Also remember some people might have finacial problems and can't come. Or they might not be able to take the time off from work. it's hard for alot of people to travel.

Sorry they can't be there. But your day will be beautiful no matter what!

I know exactly how you feel! It's really not fair how people are. I am taking my mother's advice....'Don't get mad, get even.'

Look at our percentage of Yes to No so far... I know exactly how you feel! But I just look at it this way... if they don't care enough to come to our wedding, I'm not going to freak out about it. My day won't be ruined if they aren't there. The people who really want to be there will... and we'll have one hell of a party!

I was in your boat. 5 really unexpected people are not coming. One girl we went to hers and really it wasn't fun. My friend her husband doesn't do wedding (is what she says) What? The other two have a bach. party. Um you know this is a wedding right. The other girl her FMIL is throwing a engagement party for them. Um make it another night half of our friends are going to be at my wedding. I just don't understand people and really I have come to realize the hell with them I don't need them there to still have a great day and you don't need them either!!!!!!

I am so sorry for you I know it hurts now I am going through the same thing but at the end of the day you know where you stand with these people and you know what to do for yourself from now. It will be ok you will have your husband at the end of the day and thats all that matters

I know, its a crappy feeling. I was feeling this way about my batchlorette party and about my bridesmaids. Sometimes, people just don't go out of there way to do things like you do for them. It's a shame how much you realize this when it comes to your own wedding but, I also realized some crappy things I did as well and didn't know at the time how hurtful they might have been.

Re: but I went to their wedding!

wow...I am really grateful for all of the support. :)
What has me so upset, is we are having two receptions, here and California, so people would not have to travel too far.
I just kinda assumed my family would appreciate the gesture and show up!
We were even thinking of having two ceremonies, but at this point, I'll settle for a cocktail!
I guess this is just one of those life lessons brides learn. Sigh. Again thanks for all of your thoughts and kind words!
