Butterfly release

I just read the thread about releasing doves and made me think of something I found on the web the other night. Theres a place the farms butterflies and you canbuy them by the dozen and release them instead of throwing rice or bubbles. I was intrigued by the idea but somehow feel a little wrong. however it does help the enviorenment I don't I've been on the fence. What do you think?

Re: Butterfly release

there have been quite a few posts on this. reviews are mixed. def search to read about ppl's experiences/opinions.

often times, they die and when the couple opens the box, nada. maybe a few but most dead. my sis went to a wedding where this happened and it made for an awkward moment. however, i know brianandmarie did it and got such great pics from it. i love butterflies!! i wouldnt do it personally just bc of the risk of a majority dying.

Re: Butterfly release

i know mail order butterflies are BAD news. however, there's an environmentally responsible butterfly house in smithtown--sweetbriar farms. if you ask them how to go about having the release without killing butterflies, they may be able to help you.

Re: Butterfly release

I have been to 2 wedding where they did the butterfly release. In both cases there ended up being a few dead butterflies. It kind of ruins the mood of it.

Re: Butterfly release

I had a butterfly release and everything was PERFECT!!!!!

We ordered about 7 dozen for the guests to release, another dozen for me to release with my flowergirls and then Brian and I released another 2 dozen together!!

It was absolutely perfect!!!!!

You do have to follow the directions or you might end up with some dead butterflies but I had no problems!!!
