butterflys at church
Has anyone done this release. I saw it in some movie and thought it was beautiful(of course it was a movie, lol)I had one person tell me when they did it most of the butterflies arrived dead. Any one have suggestions?

Not to discourage you, but I was watching the wedding marathon sponsored by the knot on the oxygen channel the other week, and I saw one of the brides do this. A couple of days before the wedding you had to manually take the larvae out of the cacoons. This totally skeeved the bridetobe. Then upon release most of them just fell to the ground, or were stuck to the netting cage.

I saw it once and I thought it wsa beautiful! One problem was that many of the butterflies were dead - and the bride went crazy because they cost a significant amount of money. All in all, it was a pretty effect. Also saw dried autumn leaves thrown as well - thought that was creative too.

i've heard the same thing about the butterflies, its often a disappointment when things don't go right.

Re: butterflys at church
My cousin went to a wedding this past Aug and they did a butterfly release. She said hers just fell to the ground, but once they picked it up it was ok. It just needed some help. Others didn't do as well though.I have heard that a mass release works better than the individual packaged ones. At least that way if some are dead it isn't as noticeable and you don't have guests staring at their dead butterflies.
It is beautiful though..
Good Luck!

That is soooo nasty. Maybe there is another
company you could getthem from that you wouldn't have to do that! Otherwise I'd foregt about it!

Re: butterflys at church
wow thanks! I saw the show on the knot too but the company I talked to said the butterflys are overnighted in those triangle boxes. I think Im just gonna scrap the idea. I don't want it to turn out more gross than beautiful, LOL!! Thanks Again!

Re: butterflys at church
I read the FM sent to me and Im glad I did. Having friends that can't be included in the BP release them together is a great way to include them. I was feeling guilty for only having family in BP. The process of putting them in one big basket covered in tulle until they warmed up and became alert again was agreat idea.Welcome New Vendors
