When are you going?? I went a few years ago in August...the weather was awesome!!! No humidity in the summer...I was in HEAVEN..since I have thick wavy hair!

Where are you staying??

I know I am soooo tired of stressing out over things. It would be so nice if for once people just left us alone. We spent the weekend at FH's dads house in PA and they sat there telling us how stupid we are for spending the money on the big wedding, which pissed off FH since there are pics all over of the weddings they through his stepmothers kids! We are leaving on June 1st and getting married on the 2nd. We will be home by the 4th or 5th. This way we keep our anniversary when we finally have the big wedding. It's just the two of us going. My finacal problems would change if I could work as well but with the cost of daycare and school there is no way right now. I wouldnt make enough pt. to pay for both boys to go into daycare or to a private sitter. Right now I feel school is what I need to concentrate on and that was another reason for Vegas and moving the big wedding! Instead Im called lazy behind my back and that I like to spend the little money I have on stupid things like getting married, giving my son a dinner for making confirmation(my older one). I would love for these people to live my life instead of just trying to budget my bank account for me. Anyhow, Im very excited. I have been there once about 7yrs. ago in August and stayed for a long weekend and had a ball. FH has never been so Im sure we will have a great weekend.

Its so easy for people who have money to complain. You are trying to do the best for you and your family and if they cant see that than tell them to butt out. So waht if you dont have a lot of money, do they think that your not entitled to get married?? AHh im sorry it just gets me upset when people have nothing better to do than complain and its not even their business.

Your 100% right though. That's just how I feel! We IMO did the right thing in deceiding to move the wedding to 2007 to slowly save for it and elope to Vegas. FH's parents didnt think big weddings were stupid when they were planning theirs or when his dad paid for both his stepdaughters weddings or when FBIL got married. None of them had kids. They are disolusioned because they think the money we spend on the wedding would be better spent on a house. Well hello but for what we are spending we cant even use for a down payment in Long Island and IMO it's alot harder to save for a house when you have one income(how are you going to afford the mortgage)then paying a vendor like a monthly bill. Everytime we build up our savings something comes along to drain it but our monthly bills are always getting paid. I dont begrudge anyone who would rather elope and leave it at that or run off to city hall, backyard weddings etc. but it's not what I want. Anyhow, Im tired of fighting with people and trying to get my point and feelings across to family and friends. We are going to do what we feel is right for us and anyone who doesnt like it is free to not show up!!
Anyhow, VEGAS HERE WE COME

Thanks!! Isn't sad when you get more support from people that you dont really know then your own family and friends? Im glad I found LIW or these people would make me soooo miserable all the time.

I dunno, my family is so judgemental, except my mom, that I dont even talk about it in front of them anymore. Its like the less they know, the better. I always thought the wedding planning is suppose to be a lot of fun, but its not. It just seems like it makes certain people miserable. I think its awesome you are doing it your way and since you are paying for it then noone's comments should matter.

Keep your chin up, once that day comes you'll realize that you did the right thing by doing it your way!!!!Best of luck.
