how do you do it? do you go on a website like expedia? which one? or do you use a travel agent?
do you track the prices for a while before buying or do you just buy it right away?
i am trying to buy tix to costa rica but the price keeps going up up up and i dont know if i should wait any longer.

Re: buying plane tickets
kayak.com shows you pricing trend charts. I usually buy it direct from the airline's website.

Priceline is good too. I google 'cheap flights' and I use a website that does comparatives.

Re: buying plane tickets
i usually buy from orbitz (or the like) ... they have a price assurance thing so if the price goes down (and somebody buys a ticket at that lower price) you get a check for the difference after your trip is over.
if the prices keep going up, that might be a good option ...
good lcuk

I find Expedia to be the cheapest.

Re: buying plane tickets
Bing travel has a fare watcher and if you put the dates and desination in, they can forecast if the fares will go up or down. We used this to buy tickets for our trip to Chicago this weekend, we held off until farewatcher told us to buy!
if you pick a flight on yapta.com they will email you when it goes down. i have to say that the flight i got my honeymoon was 1,700 cheaper and i got the flight because of yapta.com TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT!!!
