I am sure Lunatrek would know the answer to this, so hopefully she will respond.
I now live in Lynbrook, and I am moving to Bellmore. Can I use my cable modem from Lynbrook in my apartment in Bellmore, or do I have to go out and buy a new one?
Thanks, Scott

Re: Cable Box Question
My FI works for Cablevision and she says that you can take your modem with you to your new place.
Did you buy this modem or was it given to you when you hooked up service?

Re: Cable Box Question
Actually... I just saw something. In the subject you say cable box... but then you say cable modem? Which one are you referring to?
With a cablebox... it depends on the model I believe.

Re: Cable Box Question
I meant cable modem. I will change it.
Thanks, I had no idea I could take it. I originally bought the cable modem from the WIZ.

Re: Cable Modem Question
Heh... she just told me that Cablevision once owned the WIZ which is why they sold them back in the day. But yeah... I don't see why you can't take it with you.
Besides Cablevision gives you a modem to use now if you don't have one.

Re: Cable Modem Question
did you buy it? Or did they give it to you when u set up service? My FH works for cablevision. Cablevision gives you the modem when u set up service. That usually has to go back if you are no longer going to keep Cablevision. If you bought it at the Wiz (which cablevision did own but they all went out of business) And payed 100.00 for then its yours to keep since you bought it. If it is a Modem with an Optimum Voice hookup then that needs to be return.

Re: Cable Modem Question
I bought it for $99 when they ran a special, a few years back. It is just a regular modem.
Thanks, I am glad I dont have to buy another one for Bellmore. I just hope the people that lived there before left all the wiring for the cable tv to cable modem. Otherwise, I have to get some long Cable wire. Can I get that at Radio Shack?

Re: Cable Modem Question
Hey Scott - you can keep your modem, and you can take your wires with you too! If they're not long enough, yes Radio Shack will have them.
Sorry it took so long to respond, but it looks like you had some other helpers here too!
