Caffe Riviera

Caffe Riviera

Sunday is our 1 year anniversary, and I am taking Danielle out for dinner this saturday night. I told her it was going to be a surprise where we go. I did some research on line and I decided upon Caffe Riviera in Rockville Center. Has anyone gone there? What did you think of the food and the service? Do they take reservations? and also if you know how do I have to dress?

Thanks

Re: Caffe Riviera

A “sophisticated Rockville Centre eatery that knows how to please the palate”, this “local favorite” is a “great choice” for “imaginative preparations” of Italian cuisine; the “gracious owner” and “courteous” staff “encourage unhurried dining” in the “pretty” setting, however a few foes fuss it’s “too noisy” and “cramped” to boot

as per Zagat.com

It also has a fireplace

I think casual but neat would be the way to dress. Maybe khakis and a button down shirt.

Have fun

Re: Caffe Riviera

Thanks soo much...I tried to get on ZAGAT.com but I am not a member. It used to be free....hmmm. Does anyone know of any romantic restaurants that have really good italian food....In Nassau County, that may not be that loud and busy that night?

I was thinking of Rana's in Merrick on Merrick avenue. The lighting is Dim and the place is usually empty....and the food is awesome....

What do you think>?

Re: Caffe Riviera

I used to live in RVC. Very nice place. Kind of more formal than casual, but definitely not suit and tie. Food was excellent when we went, but the service was slow (it was crowded, but...).

Enjoy, happy anniversary!

Re: Caffe Riviera

IF you are looking for romantic and Italian food then you must go to one of the Matteo's. There is one in Hewlett on Broadway and the other is in Bellmore on Bedford Avenue. Awesome food, great friendly atmosphere...very romantic decor

Re: Caffe Riviera

Im not sure if we want to go to Matteo's...It is more family style...We really dont like that type of restaurant.

If any of you like that type of restaurant, I recommend Amichi's in Massapequa on merrick road. Awesome food.

Anyone else have any suggestions??

Re: Caffe Riviera

I live in RVC, but I have never been there.
Not to confuse you, but I have heard amazing things about Da Ugo on Merrick Road in RVC.
Whatever you decide I am sure you will have a wonderful anniversary!

Re: Caffe Riviera

I was reading the review on Da Ugo and for the past 8 months it hasnt gotten really good reviews...Supposedly the prices are really high and the food portions have gotten really small.

Re: Caffe Riviera

I have heard that it's expensive, but my boss eats there regularly and says that the food is amazing...totally worth it. He's never said anything about small portions. That stinks!
