Has anyone ever seen or used cake centerpieces? If so, what was the cost. If you have pictures, that would be great.

Re: Cake centerpieces?
I just saw it on Bridezillas that one time and it looked like a logistical nightmare...were you thinking of making them yourself or hiring a baker?

are they instead of wedding cake? do people actually eat them? i can still see them being a logistical nightmare but if you took styrofoam and just iced it they could be pretty. probably not that pretty if it's a DIY unless you're a great baker though!

Re: Cake centerpieces?
I was at one point considering cupcake trees as centerpieces and that would be in addition to the wedding cake...but that idea has come & gone...but i still love the idea!

Yes my friend did this. It was ADORABLE. Every table had a different cake (in her colors) & they had a mini wedding cake for 2 on their table

Re: Cake centerpieces?
i went to a wedding in Boston recently where they did the cake Cps...thought it was cute...but it was funny because all nite we all wanted to put our fingers in it to see if it was real!
Thanks everyone, but my caterer seemed to think it was a bad idea. He said he hasn't seen it in the 25 years he has been in business, that it would be too low, and that it would be unappetizing for a cake to be sitting out for hours.
Honestly, I want something cool, but I also want to save money and I thought cakes might be cheaper than flowers.
