Re: Cake Cutter & Toasting Flutes...question
They're only necessary if you think they are. To me they weren't so we didn't register for them or ask for them or even buy them for ourselves. We happened to get a lovely waterford toasting flute set at my shower from someone...but you know what, I didn't even bring it with me to the wedding (just forgot) so we just used the same flutes everyone else did at the wedding....didn't even occur to me until afterwards to be honest. And cake set, didn't ask for them or get them so again, used what the RH had.
Sooooooo not a big deal for us, but it's different for everyone.

We got toasting flutes only. We received a Macys giftcard as an eparty gift so we got them there. We aren't doing cake cutters.

Re: Cake Cutter & Toasting Flutes...question
We registered for and got our toasting flutes, but we're using the cake cutter and knife that the RH provides. I figured nobody sees them but us, so I didn't care about getting a 'special' set.

Re: Cake Cutter & Toasting Flutes...question
I went and bought my sets (pics are in my album) for my toasting flutes and cake set from Exclusively Weddings.
I had them engraved with our names and wedding date-everyone loved them and thought the sparkle was nice.
RH's (most of them) provide it though if you ask.

Re: Cake Cutter & Toasting Flutes...question
I bought my cake cutter on Saturday.
My parents gave us the swarovski toasting flutes as an x-mas present, so im using those.
They're not... We weren't going to register for them (just borrow them) but was saw a pair of flutes we really liked... and my friend bought them for us!!! So, we registered for matching server set - but we'll have a backup plan if we don't get those.

i think these items are severly overrated, spending a ton of cash on them is senseless, chances are they get left behing at the rh...discount store for me all the way, lol!

Re: Cake Cutter & Toasting Flutes...question
I put them on my registry if no one gets it for me I would probably just use the ones provided by my hall.

I didnt get either one...would probably never use them after the wedding. Actually I take that back. I would probably use a cake cutter...maybe I'll buy one.

Re: Cake Cutter & Toasting Flutes...question
they are not necessary but may be a nice memento from the wedding. we got our flutes from the mikasa outlet in woodbury commons, we are IN LOVE with them! and we registered for our cake knife and server @ BBB. My mom got them for us.
