Does anyone know if you need a cake server AND a cake knife? I have no idea...

Your hall will provide one. But a lot of brides receive the set as a gift an then have it as a memento.

I'm glad my hall is providing them because it's one less thing I have to worry about.

I was actually wondering the same thing...I recieved a lenox cake server to match our China pattern at our engament party, and wasn't sure if I needed the cake knife as well.

I used the hall's. Just make sure you tell them whether or not you have your own.

I got Waterford server/knife for my shower and want to use them for the cake. I would think you only need the knife though..good question..

Even if I get one as a gift, I might use the hall's. I don't want to have to worry about remembering to bring it with us after the wedding.

FMIL bought me mine for my shower. I was going to buy my own had I not gotten them as a gift. It's nice to have momentos from the big day.
