Cake Cutting Utensils

Is anyone not going to buy the cake cutting knife and other thingy (spatula??)? Will you be using ones that the RH provides?

i am just using the ones from the hall. one less expense. same with the toasting flutes i think.... but FMiL is pushing us to get the latter.

I was thinking about this the other day...are they really that necesary? In my family, it's tradition for the MOH to buy the cake cutting set and flutes...but I see it as a waste of money and more stuff I'll probably never use

My hall didn't provide a cake cutting set. I wound up getting a personalized set from the knot for $10. I was really happy that I did, my photographer got a great picture of it during out cake cutting.

We bought a cake cutting set from Fortunnoff and have used it since the wedding every time we have company and serve cake. Perhaps you can register for the set for your bridal shower?

unless someone randomly buys them for us, we will use what the RH gives us. We have our own toasting glasses though.

Two friends of mine bought us the Vera Wang Love knots cake cutting set!!

I think sometimes you can register for cake cutters and someone can get you them at your shower??

I got a set as an engagement gift a while back. I will use that. I do not have toasting flutes yet, but I am assuming I'll get something from someone at the shower. If not, I will just use what the RH has.

If you think you'll value them as keepsakes, consider them. DH and I didn't get special utensils or champagne flutes, as it would have just ended up being clutter for us.

I actually have a cake cutter & toasting flutes I received as gifts, but I ended up using the ones provided by the RH. It worked out fine.

I thought about this hard and long and decided to cave in and buy the toasting set and the cake set as well- pics are in my album and FH and I promised each other that since we're buying the sets that on our anniversaries we're going to use them again so it's not a total waste.

i dont think I will be buying anything fancy... what are we going to do with it in the future? I dont think I will ever use it again! there are many other things from the weddings that I will look forward to saving, this is not one of them!

I'm using the hall's stuff....I mean, have you ever noticed the cake cutting utensils, or even toasting flutes for that matter, at any wedding you've been to? I know I haven't lol
