Hi ladies, I am surprising Fh with a grooms cake, now Im wondering on what filling I should use. I know he loves canoli, but I think hes putting that in the wedding cake (he is in charge of that bc I dont really like cake) lol
What are you ladies choices? Should I go with the canoli filling eventhough the wedding cake might be that?

Re: Cake Fillings?
I think the grooms cake and the wedding cake should be different. Otherwise.. waht's the point? I know it will look different but internally it's the same and then to me it's kind of a waste of money. So I would go for a different kind of filling.
What about a red velvet cake? Or chocolate? Or vanilla? I've never gone to a tasting yet... so I don't have that many suggestions.

For our wedding cake, we were deciding between rainbow cookie and red velvet. We chose rainbow cookie for the wedding cake so I got red velvet for the groom's cake

Tell him not to do that in the wedding cake and to do something more traditional, then put it in the grooms cake.

Yea thats true- but do a lot of people like canoli? I told him to do whatever he wanted with the cake lol but to make it good enough for other people to want to eat it too

Re: Cake Fillings?
OMG I have never heard of a rainbow cookie filling for the cake, I would LOVE that!
I'm partial to red velvet, which is basically a cocoa powder cake colored with red food coloring and a cream cheese frosting, but I also like black forest cake.

We had Rainbow Cookie too...well, actually we asked them to make it taste like a rainbow cookie (almond), but they made it look like one too which our guests thought was a little strange. In the dark lighting it was hard to tell what it was, people thought we asked them to make the cake like an Italian flag. Oops!!
Either way, it was delicious! Almond cake, rasperry jam and regular vanilla frosting

Do you ladies know what filling would go good with Dulce de Leche???
FH likes:
Chocolate mousse, chocolate pudding, & cannoli. Would any of these go good with dulce de leche?

Hmm...I would do more of a caramel cream or mousse with Dulce de Leche myself...but the chocolates could work too. I wouldn't do cannoli with it.

ITA. . best would be caramel or it can work with coconut filling. . or dulce de leche filling can be good with both vanilla cake or chocolate. . then it's kind of like caramel and chocolate. .
fillings. .you can really do almost any flavor. . does your cake person have a list of what they do?
