Hi Ladies--I have a question since I haven't gone cake tasting yet and it seems like we all love the fondant. What does fondant taste like? Does it taste awful? I love the look but the taste is also important. Thanks!

Ok, I'm obsessed with this so...When I emailed Gail Watson about this she said it's not the flavor that bothers people becuase it is virtually flavorless. She said it's the texture (very gummy) & sweetness. She compared it to a super sweet marshmallow with that slight chalky aftertaste. BUT she also mentioned that they do a white chocolate fondant which is a lesser of two evils.
My one friend who had fondan, said that everyone hated the taste & just ate around it. She felt it was the one time a cake would be photographerd so much & she wanted that flawless look.
When I saw a special on the wedding ckes they make at Disney World, they almost always use fondant. But when they cut & served the cakes in the kitchen they removed the fondant off each round (or layer) before cutting it. Because it is like a play dough it was peeled off in 1 min at most. Then they had the yummy cake & the layer of buttercream that was underneaththe fondant!
