(Cake Question) I need cooking ideas.. for Jim's B-day

OK.

So as some of you know, we're moving out of the in-laws (OH THANK GOD ABOVE!)

So, new place, new surroundings, new experience for Jim. Me, I've lived on my own since 18, Jim has always had 'home base'.

So, his bday is St. Patty's day. He has asked for the following

Marble fudge brownies with Dark and White chocolate chips. (no problem I can do this blind folded)

Cake ......... 'Surprise me'
See NOW I'm stuck. I love trying out new stuff. So i need some ideas.

He loves Pineapples, he loves chocolate. So I was thinking of making two small round pineapple upside down cakes and using them as layers. In the middle put some butter cream icing (he loves it) in a light layer, then put the upsideown other on top then cover the whole thing in Dark Chocolate icing.

Thoughts? New Ideas?

ETA: I'd literally LINE the pan with pineapple chunks when making the round cakes. Not just use circles. I'd cut the circles up into smaller pieces (the circles are thinner.

Sorry I can't help with a cake that has chocolate and pineapple but I can't see why you can't make a chocolate cake of some kind and use the pineapple to decorate it.

hmm. . .makes you re-think that whole agnostic thing, doesn't it

anyway, that sounds a little crazy for me. . .I don't really like the fruit & chocolate thing together. its seems like there is too much goignon in that cake, but you know Jim's taste.

I'd proabably jsut try to make a cake in the shape of something. But that's fancy for me.

or what a bout a pineapple filling in a chocolate cake, if he likes that combination? Maybe with buttercream frosting?

How about a chocolate cake in the shape of a pineapple?

What about chocolate fondue and you could serve it with pineapple chunks?

I like the whole fondue chocolate thing with the pineapple!

or, since you're already making brownies, you've covered the chocolate part....maybe you can just make a pineapple upside down cake for another dessert for him....and skip the chocolate on one dessert?
