Cake Tasting

Came back today from cake tasting....

We got chocolate mouse and hazelnut.

Not sure if we will get all white cake or chocolate and white? (what do you ladies think?)

also deciding if we should add fondant....any ideas?

If anyone has pics of cake ideas, please share....

TIA

MMMMMM Sounds deeeelish! How about vanilla w/ choc mousse and choc w/ hazelnut ?

That sounds yummy to me!!

I'd say that fondant is probably the way to go if you're looking for aesthetic beauty. Fondant is great for pastry chefs to work with because they can do virtually anything out of it, but the thing is, it tastes pretty crappy...

That doesn't bother me, though, because everyone knows wedding cakes are never going to be the best dessert you ever eat.

Our cake wouldn't be possible without fondant.

my shower cake was made with marshmellow fondant. it was aestheticly beautiful as well as delish!
but i def agree that fondant is the way to go if you want that 'wow' factor cake.
the flavor combo sounds good, i like what the bride before suggested!

prob go with their most popular one.. square one with ribbon around each layer...
not a lot of time to think about it..

I have the same problem. I love hazelnut but we have a few cousins with bad allergies so the wedding will be a 'no nuts' zone.

Lana- Did you go to Francesco's? I have to make an appointment soon.

I think it will be 4 tiers. I am thinking of doing alternating shapes....

Oh Christine the hazelnut cake is so yummy. I went this weekend and it was fun! You will love it. They offer you coffee and tea and they bring out all cakes in slices to try. Then you are able to take all the cakes home with you afterwards! I wanted the hazelnut cake as well but i thought of everyone else. Boohoo! All of them are actually pretty yummy!
