Re: Cake Toppers...
I SOOOOOOOOO wanted to get one done of us and our three dogs but I just could not justify spending the $$$ (BTW, I think the prices have gone up - I could swear when I was considering it, it ould have been about $1200 ... now it looks like it would be $1550)

Re: Cake Toppers...
I had looked at bunch of sites as well and they were by far the best (a lot of the others looked really cartoony, etc).
I just had to draw the line because of the $$$$.

I love them too. I am making my own using a similar technique. I really like it so far but it is only half way finished. Here is a picture of it in the process. My sister said its scary how much it looks like us. I never posted a picture so I'm not sure it will work.
How the heck are you making it yourself???? I am soooo impressed!!

Thank you! I am using polymer clay. I can't wait to make my dress. I am going to put tiny swaraski crystals on it!! I'll post a pic when I am finished next week or so.
WOW! I am so impressed, they look great so far. I cant wait to see the finished couple.

Ditto all the complements ... I'm totally impressed. You should open your own shop. How long has it taken you to sculpt them?

Re: Cake Toppers...
Thank you so much!!!!! I never sold one before but I would if someone was interested. I have made only 3 before this one (all as gifts) and I don't have pictures of them. It does take a long time to make, so far I've worked on it about 12 hours. I plan on finishing it this week because I have off!!!! FM me if you are really interested or have questions. Thanks again for the compliments!

I would absolutely have you make my topper, but my brother has already committed to make ours (he blows glass). Can't diss the family!

Re: Cake Toppers...
They are great, but very pricy.
I'm using right brain creations instead (www.rightbraincreations.com). They are similar, and can do pets, custom pieces, etc.
I've been working with Lisa Calhoon, the owner and she's been terrific with the creative ideas and helping me. They are a little less life-like, but half the cost (mine with us, a dog, and lots of other little details is only $475 - the same thing for thumbprint was over $1,200). It's still a lot of money, but it's a very special momento forever. Once I saw them I wasn't satisfied with anything else!!
It takes a minimum of 10 weeks to make them, so time that appropriately.
Hope this helps!!
