This was mine. It belonged to my Aunt and is 67 years old.

This is FH's project and I am so excited to see what he is going to come up with.

He is a toy and figurine collector (mostly star wars and spiderman) alot of antique stuff.

He has complete reign to put whoever he wants on the cake. I have a feeling it is going to be Princess Leah and Hans Solo (is that the Harrison Ford character?)

anyway, we are sort of 'different' so a traditional cake topper doesn't do it for us.

Some of these sculpted ones are lovely though...very artsy.

BunnyMonkey, that's so funny - my DH too is a collector of Star Wars. Here's our topper (I had planned on trying to make a tux for Han and actually sew a dress to resemble mine for Leah (I'm a dork, I know) but I ran out of time.

ETA - Wow - I just noticed this was my 1000th post!!! Woohoo

oneday - that is so cute!!!!! I am the same kind of dork. I am going to show that pic to FH.

Thanks for the inspiration!

eta: Congrats on being addicted!

Re: cake toppers

Although they're probably pretty heavy, I would love to have one of these... if only they weren't SOOO expensive!

This is the affordable one that I love:

This was my cake topper (first picture), but there was no room on the top of my cake (second picture), so I just put it a little off to the side and in front of my cake.

I love you're topper. FI just came in the room and said that he really likes your cake.

Did your hall make it, or did you get it done by an outside bakery?

Sorry I only saw your post today.

I got it from an outside bakery, but I arranged it with my hall.

We are using this one too but then I deceided it was too heavy/big and I didnt want it ruined. So I bought the smaller version of it, only about 5 inches high and is identical.

Where did you get the smaller one?

I bought it on ebay actually - for about $15-20. I dont think Lenox makes it anymore but when I looked on ebay this morning there were a few of them on there. Its exactly like the big one. It's sooo pretty.

I DID decide to go an order this one. It's very appropriate for two 'psycho bikers' like myself and FH.

Edited to say: I found this on pixishop.com They have a lot of vintage looking pieces and stuff that's definitely out of the ordinary.

hi. i'm trying to put together my cake but i can't decide on a topper. most of the pics i've seen are w/ flowers which is pretty but i was wondering if anyone is using something different (figurines, traditional, initials, etc.)
i'd love to see pics if anyone has. thanks a bunch!!!

michele (still clueless)

I actually had a cake with roses on top and a cake topper (which I put in the front of the cake). Here are picutres of my cake and cake topper
