i used a third party bakery although my cake was included

i dont think its necessary, unless its important to you. For me, i started looking at cakes before dresses or RH's after i was engaged i had a folder full of cakes but meanwhile it took me 4 months to go look at rh's, and didnt have anything else. So for some reason this was important to me, and a small detail i really wanted.

The cake i wanted is not the easiest design. I know my rh uses an amazing bakery but on their site or any previous brides had nothing similar to what i wanted. Ive seen past brides post pics of cakes they asked to duplicate and then a pic of what they actually did and it doesnt always come out the way they wanted. I didnt want to take a chance so i went with someone whom i knew has done this design many times before and was able to do it perfectly

if cake isnt important to you, just go with what the rh gives you. we all have different priorities and what means alot to one person wont mean alot to another

we did a VH so i didnt think it was impt to upgrade our cake. We just had a 4 tier smooth buttercream white cake w/ raspberry mousse and raspberry preserves as filling. it was really good! my hall makes it themselves and doesnt use an outside bakery.

however, if they could make ANYTHING for no add'l charge i probably would have gone with this cake (still looks like buttercream but has smaller detail than I think NRC can do well, and the brooch makes it special -- I'd have to track down a comparable brooch)

In the end I was happy with how our cake looked although I might have left off the rose petals. no biggie

The standard cake at Leonard's is nothing great but they do have some cakes for upgrades and the cost is not that bad. We are also doing the Viennese Hour so I don't want to go too crazy on the cake.

I have a choice of 4 cakes, and I hate cake, so probably will not upgrade. But I'm obsessed with the cake in my album, the three tier with columns, and I think that a column cake is offered. I just know that that type of fondant and decoration wouldn't be, so I need to evaluate if I really want to upgrade, but probably won't.

The cake will be served with ice cream, there's mini viennese platters on every table, and we're having a cheesecake martini bar, so I think upgrading the cake would be way too much dessert. Plus now FH and FMIL want to serve Samos dessert wine to all our guests if the RH will let us bring it in. Our dessert is going to get nuts!

I am using a third party vendor. FH really wanted to make sure that our cake taste good.

I think we won't upgrade, plus besides the wedding cake we get a dessert too for eveyone

It's totally a personal decision and in the end, really doesn't make much difference either way when you look back on it. Our RH didn't make theirs in house, they used an outside bakery which happens to specialize in wedding cakes. They did have a basic wedding cake that was included in our price but in the end we chose to upgrade. This was like, a month before and while I was going back and forth about spending the extra money or not, in the end we ended up shelling out so much last minute cash that it wasn't even that noticeable...it was like, well, what's one more expense, we're already spending too much. I don't regret it as I LOVED the way it came out, I made it match my invite, program, placecard design. But I wouldn't be crying with regret now if I didn't upgrade.

I really wanted a fancy cake, but we cant afford the extra $$ so we are going with the one thats included and florist will just decorate it. Plus we are having the VH so I doubt anyone will be paying attention to the cake!
