Cake - what did you have inside?

Cake - what did you have inside?

I am going a mock wedding cake for my birthday to test it out in April. Just a small version for 12 people and I wanted to know what people got in their cakes and did they like it.

I was thinking chocolate cake with rasberry mouse and fondant iciing with a buttercream underneath the fondant.

But not everyone likes chocolate so I was thinking what other flavors did you get??

make sure you try the fondant first! we loved the look, but not the taste!

our cake is going to be chocolate cake with buttercream frosting... and the fillings are chocolate mousse (two layers) and fresh strawberries.

We had chocolate cake with vanilla french pastry cream as the filler for all the layers with the exception of the top layer. The top was french pastry cream and strawberries for me and my sister (MOH)! The cake was iced with buttercream and the bow and streamers going down the side were fondant.

For obvious reasons, we didn't save our top layer, but our baker said he will make us one for our first anniversary.

Silly question...

If you had more than one flavor/filling - did you have your servers ask guests what flavor they preferred?

ETA: the word 'filling'
