at what point in the planning / vendor process do we have to go talk to the baker about the cake we want?
our hall uses an outside bakery and we have to go speak with them. should i do this now or is it 6 mos before / 2 mos before / etc?

If you know which bakery it is, go a few weeks before, but try not to go before the 2 month mark.
Anything earlier and they won't remember your requests and you'll have to call to remind them all over again.
I went to mine 1 week ago and the baker said it's ok, she actually asked me when we're having the wedding to make sure it's not too early to talk about it.
