Hmm... I was looking at the website that my cake maker (provided by hall) has and I am very unimpressed. From what I can see I would be happier doing it myself. anyone have an idea on how much a cake costs? Sounds silly since it is included but I am fussy over my baked goods.

depends on how intricate it is. could find one for a just a few hundred up to like $1500! are you pondering just making yourself or finding a baker to do it for you? i'd find some comprable pics of cakes that you like and bring it to a baker--a designer wedding cake will probably run at least $350-1000

Hopefully I can work with the baker that they have. I am hoping that the pictures online don't reflect all of their work. If it does then yup I will make it myself. I am an avid baker and not scared to do so...I was just hoping not to have to. However like I said I will take it on if I feel necessary.

Could you bring ideas to your baker, and see if they can accommodate??

If you do decide to make your own or purchase from an outside vendor please be aware that not only do you have to pay the cost of the cake itself, but your hall may charge you a cake cutting fee on top of it.
