Has anyone used La Bonne Boulangerie in Port Jefferson (or their sister bakery Dortoni Bakery) for their cake? Or tasted one from there?? Thanks in advance!

Re: Cakes
Dortoni is the best bakery i have ever been to. Their cakes are so moist and delicious that I want to drive there and buy one right now! You are in good hands by going with them!!
My wedding cake was from Dortoni's, and it was DISGUSTING. Everyone constantly raves about how Dortoni's is one of the best bakeries on L.I. - well imho if that's the case, then yuck!!! We had a yellow cake with cannoli cream filling, and it was awful. The frosting was absolutely grotesque - it tasted like toothpaste!
My husband is a LI boy, and he suggests Cafe Napoli in Valley Stream.

Maybe you just don't like Fondant?
Nope! It wasn't a fondant cake - they wanted a lot more $$ for that option. That's why I was surprised - I didn't think a bakery could mess up such a basic cake!

Re: Cakes
My RH provides a cake from either La Bonne Boulangerie or Rolling Pin...but like you said, La Bonne Boulangerie doesn't give tastings...so we bought a little cupcake to sample. It was a bit dry, but it's hard to tell if that's what the cake would be like. Rolling Pin did give tastings...so we went with them.
