Cakes by Jay

Can anyone tell me what cake flavors he has? Also, I heard that fondant is hard to cut and tastes funny...is this true?

We are getting married at the Glen Cove Mansion and he is the baker they use for all their cakes (which are included in the package). I know he does beautiful work, and I would also be interested to hear how they taste, too.

I booked Cakes by Jay. When you visit him he lets taste his top four flavors. Which are red velvet , carrot and sponge cake with raspberry ganach and chocolate raspberry ganach. But he can customize the flavor if you want. I picked the carrot and red velvet. The fondant was not hard and it was vanilla flavored.

His cakes are beautiful and taste AWESOME!! We had fondant and it was fine. Make an appointment and go try them. You will fall in love..with the cakes and HIM!!

i got married at glen cove mansion and he did my cake. this cake was included in the gcm price and i didnt pay a cent more. jay was awesome to work with too. the fondant didnt bother me. we had carrot cake i loooooved every bite (cant wait for my anniversary so i can have another bite!).

i used cakes by jay...at the tasting DH made a special request and he was able to make it then and there and said it would be no problem. Dh requested for baileys cream. SO along with that we also tasted the carrot cake, sourdough with raspberries and chocolate ganache(this is AMAZING), a chocolate cake and i forgot what else lol

we went with the baileys cream and the sourdough with raspberries and chocolate ganache...and for the top of the cake which we take home we asked for the carrot cake

i had the cake on my wedding day and i am not just saying this but it was the best tasting cake i had, actually i was real upset i didnt have more and have been thinking about that cake ever since. Dh and i only shared that 1 piece that we cut, i forgot to get more during VH but i had to run downstairs to bridal suite to do something quick so i missed more cake im thinking of asking him to make another small cake with that flavor

I used Jay and he has a bajillion flavors and if you want a specific flavor, he will do it for you. And when we first met with him he had us taste his fondant. it was actually decent. His is very thin. But I believe he put a thin layer of butter cream under the fondant as well. Def go meet with him. He will give you a tasting and show you his work.

BTW, like Denise said, when we first met with him we ssaid we wanted Key Lime butter cream and he disappeard into the kitchen for 5 minutes and came out with a yellow pound cake sample topped with key lime butter cream. Thats what we ended up using. Soooo yummy!
