Re: Calligraphy on envelopes
I am having them done by computer by encore invitations. They cost 1.75 versus by hand for 2.50. If encore makes a mistake they don't charge me for extra envelopes if the calligrapher makes a mistake I have to buy more envelopes. I decided to make it easier on myself and just have the computerized version done. People throw away the envelopes and everything is getting very expensive so I saved a few bucks this way.

Re: Calligraphy on envelopes
A relative did mine for free, but I gave her a gift certificate anyway. When I called places for quotes, I was getting $1.5-$3 per envelope!
It is time consuming to write them all out, but $3 per envelope is pricey! If you have a printer and download a nice font, you can make your own very nicely. That's what I did for my RD invites and everyone thought they were professional

Re: Calligraphy on envelopes
I did mine on the PC. I liked how it came. The inner envolpes are tougher because they were thivker (inner lining).

Re: Calligraphy on envelopes
Mine were done by machine and were $1.25 each. They did a beautiful job. The font matched exactly to the font on my invite and the color was almost a perfect match!

Re: Calligraphy on envelopes
I love, love, love calligraphy but the only kind i really wanted was the very decorative scrolly type and that was going to be even more $$$. We had spent enough on the envelopes that I didn't want to break the bank again for this. So I used Bickham Script font using a laser printer and I think they came out pretty nicely.

Re: Calligraphy on envelopes
I got mine digitally-done by Inkspun (http://www.inkspun.com) for 39¢ for each outside envelope, 20¢ for inside envelopes. They came out really beautiful, and fast!!! Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Calligraphy on envelopes
I am paying $1.10 per line for beautiful hand calligraphy. My invitations could not be done by computer. The outer envelope is quite thick with a moire lining and aparantly the lining causes a problem. I had planned to use Rebecca from Favorite Things and she assured me everything would be fine, but last Sunday night, when I was expecting to get them back from her finished, she told me she was not able to do them. She recommended some hand calligraphers for $2.00 an envelope but I wasn't at all impressed with their writing. I wanted to match the writing on the invitation.I had hoped to send my invitations out last week and then I had to find a hand calligrapher to do them quickly. I found someone and so far they are beautiful, but I will end up spending about $500 and that I hadn't budgeted for.

Re: Calligraphy on envelopes
We did hand calligraphy. I think it was 2.75 or $3 and invitation. We booked the calligrapher through the invitation store. I think that either one is fine, but it's a personal decision.

Re: Calligraphy on envelopes
I used 'Favorite Things' she advertises on this site, I waited till the last minute to call her, she came to my house to drop off & pick up & had them done in 3 days, I had extra names & needed to order more envelopes and she did those for me as well! She was running a special for $1.00 inner & outer, she is soooo nice & I'm still getting calls & commoents about how beautiful my calligraphy is. She matched my invite font perfectly!

Re: Calligraphy on envelopes
JennJ- please STOP insulting us. We are NOT this stupid. If you want to advertise just buy some space on the board. Honestly! Your wedding is not until 2004. No one has their invites down 2 years in advance. Not even the most organized bride
So please make this your last post pretending to be a bride. Back to the topic- I had my invites and envelopes done by Debi at www.bloomingquill.com She is an amazing vendor to work with and I highly recommend her.

Re: Calligraphy on envelopes
Michelle, I couldn't have said it better. Also, your invites look incredible! My sad news: I was able to get the outers done on the computer, some of them smudged, some corners got bent... I haven't even attempted to do the return addresses on the response cards... do you think it would look terribly tacky if I bought a clear label to put on them? I'm desperate!
