Just got back from a weekend upstate with FI and my family - got away for the weekend, and it was so needed. It was so nice to get away from phones, busy streets, and masses of people for 4 days.

Just wanted to say hi to all you lovelies and to say that I hope you all had a happy turkey day!

I'm so excited because this weekend I went to the florist. Closed the deal with them and worked a lot on my dress. Have narrowed it down to two dresses and then, onto bm. Cool!!!!

Hi Ladies,
I'm thinking we need to spice up this thread a bit. I just think that if we are ALL getting married the same month we could share a few stories to better get acquainted. I'll start. HOW DID YOU GET ENGAGED???

ME:
In front of Saint Patrick's Cathedral in NYC after we got off from a horse carriage ride (12/15/2001). He said a few beautiful words and then got on one knee. I was so SURPRISED!!!!!! (I thought we were just gonna see the tree that night). After a few moments of hysterical crying I finally said YES!!!! Best thing is I had NOOOO clue and he actually had a friend videotape the whole thing. We have tons of pitures too.

We met at a now-gone bar on Second Avenue called The Black Fin. He had long lashes and dimples and that was it for me!
He proposed at home, alone, with me - and he put on his best suit to do it! We had been in our PJ's watching the Yankees game when he disappeared up the stairs to 'do something' and then he came down 10 mins later dressed in his best suit, one sock on, one sock off (a little drunk I might add). He flicked the box at me like 'Catch'. I caught it, opened it and started screaming. And sobbing. And tried it on and then realized that he hadn't even asked me yet!

Great idea to share these stories - I love to hear about how others got engaged. We actually went back to the restuarant where we had our first date. After dinner, FH said (he was so nervous he could wait to get it out) since this is where we had our first date how about this and he popped the box out. I was so excited and was staring at the ring and hugging and kissing him when he said well are you going to give me an answer. What he hadn't realized is that he was so nervous that he forgot to ask me. I told him I would say yes once he asked. He did and we laughed hysterically. It was perfect.

Anne Barge makes beautiful dresses. Sonicstef wore an anne barge for her wedding. My dress and limo's are the only things I haven't done.

I am actually going to the Vera Wang sample sale on Saturday and then I am going to visit Demetrios' shop. My brother in-laws uncle works for him so if I find something there that I like I can get a great discount. I am also planning on going to RK Bridal in early January. I think we are the only 2 who have waited to get our dresses. LOL Will you be only shopping on the island or coming to the city as well?
