I hardly spent any time in it at all the day of the wedding...basically just to drop off bags, touch up makeup, etc. So unless you are planning to spend a ton of time up there for some reason, I honestly wouldn't worry about it. The rest of the place is so beautiful!

I don't love it either but I had the same thought-- I don't plan on being in there too much so whatev! My mom did suggest getting some flowers to put in there-- haven't decided if I'm going to do that yet though.

This! Amanda and wedding party had a toast up there and that was about it. Of course, she was married at the church, if you are getting ready there and are having pictures taken, you will spend more time up there. But even in those photos, folks will be looking at you not the room.
I would also ask Bourne if they are planning upgrades to the room. So much was upgraded between the time we booked and the wedding!

i spent practically NO time there. I was only there to use the restroom and right after the ceremony and before we were announced at the reception. I would def suggest putting no money into doing anything there.

hi!! I got married there June 15, 2012 and just signed up for this now- go figure. Anyway, we had our ceremony at the location and were lucky enough to have a beautiful day so were able to be outdoors. Our florist made a birch canopy which so many people complimented us on and was in all of the ceremony pictures. We also printed menus for each setting which I think was a nice addition. Like Amandasmom said, they did a bunch of updates to the place between the time I booked and our wedding and we really had the time of our lives. All our friends and family called us the next day saying that they did too (all 200 of them!). Anyway, if you have questions, feel free to ask! I won't have my pics until some time in August, but it was picture perfect! Maitre d' Steve is great and so are Feggie (bridal attendant), and Ben and Jason (sales).

AH, I almost forgot the best part! We added an extra hour at the end for an after party in the blue room at Bourne Mansion. Our cocktail musician Matt Wahl came back for an acoustic set and the Lessings folks served a midnight snack. Obvi not everyone stayed for that last hour but it was sooooo much fun! Again, the best night of our lives!

Bourne Mansion ladies - any comments on the acoustics in the ballroom? I heard it doesn't sound great. I'm nervous.

I had a 10-piece band and it sounded really great (Times Square Orchestra). I was worried about this too! Just make sure your bandleader is aware that it is a very live room and mixes the sound accordingly.
No idea what a DJ sounds like in that room though...anyone have one and can give an opinion?

I had the same band and they were great! Once the renovation happened (around Feb 2012) and they moved the band from the middle of the room to where the organ was, that really changed the acoustics and getting rid of the organ, with all those metal pipes, eliminated the echo problem
