Calling all Catholic Church Brides
I need to change my ceremony time up a half hour. My priest is very adamant about not starting any wedding until 3:30. Have any other brides past or future encountered the same problem?

I ran into a similar situation, on Saturday's my church will only do weddings at 1:00 or 2:30......because they have 5:00 mass and have confessions the hour prior to mass....I chose the 2:30 slot and know that come 4:00 (when we should already be outside and getting ready to leave) ppl. will be coming for confessions.
I'm getting married on a Friday and we still don't have our start time set exactly, but I believe you may have an issue of not starting before 3:30 because there may be confession at an earlier time, etc. Do you think you could ask the priest why he won't do it earlier? It might help if he gave you a reason instead of just saying no.
Thank you for the advice. I was just concerned about asking the priest to change anything, b/c I didn't want him to think I was planning everything around the reception. I thought the church would get a litlle offended.
It doesn't hurt to ask but, many churches are pretty set on their wedding times based on other things that are going on in the church.
They might leave the time slots prior to 3:30 open for funerals. Of course at this point they don't know whether or not there will be one that day. That could be a reason why they don't want to schedule something prior to 3:30, but it never hurts to ask. Good Luck.
