Calling all dissatisfied VIDEOMAKER CLIENTS!

Hello everyone,

I have booked with Marc Campbell of VideoMaker in Deer Park, NY and I am just disgusted.

I have been trying to get in contact with Marc - EVERYDAY for TWO MONTHS and nothing! Not one call back.

I've even left messages for him on his voice mail. It's funny - I actually read some bad publicity on this board about him and I wanted his side of the story - and by pulling what he has with me - I've gotten my answer.

He has my $250 deposit and I want it back. I've just called the FOX FIVE PROBLEM SOLVER dept for Fox News and left the story I have.

It would be great if other dissatisfied brides (engaged or married) could call in as well - maybe they will pick up our story - investigate him and get our money back.

I hate that I have to go to these lengths - but what choice is he giving me?

I hope you get a response from him or Fox 5. That is horrible that he has taken your money but can't bother to return your call.

Sorry you have to go through something like this.
At least in the end, you'll get a videographer you like.

If you get no where with FOX 5 try channel 7, I'm pretty sure they have something like problem solvers. Good Luck

I saw your post about this same thing on the vendors board, and all I can say is - $800 is really cheap for what you want.

I'm not saying you shouldn't get a good deal on something, but I also believe that you get what you pay for.

Check out Wild Rose - tons of brides here have used them, and they are very nice people!

Also, you might look at ImageCast Studios...I was on their website last week, and it is VERY impressive.

My cousin is on our liweddings board (rarely) deb, and she is the one who started the thread about videomaker last week. Just an update on her situation- they ended up sending him a certified letter last week cancelling the contract and letting him know they were calling their lawyer and the Better Business Bureau. No word from him yet. I will keep you ladies posted.

I have already called fox 5 problem solver regarding Mark. I have also sent him a certified letter telling him that we are contacting the suffolk county DA regarding his business practices. He also has my 250$ deposit for my 12/7 wedding and I want it back!!!!! Lets all get together on this one and screw him as he has screwed us.

I finally got my video from Marc on Friday night. I'm so relieved to have it in my hands, because for a while I thought I would never see it.

While the quality is excellent and I am happy with the tape, I would not recommend him because of his business practices and the stories (outrageous to say the least!) he told us every time the video was late or we couldn't reach him.

Twice we were told it would be ready and twice my husband drove out there and returned with nothing. (We called each time to confirm before going. Once we got a definite it would be ready; the second time he wasn't there for the arranged meeting).

He also never returned a phone call. We had to keep trying all his numbers for days at a time before we got through to him.

We received three copies of the tape but not our raw footage and the DVD (which is in the contract). Supposedly, we will get the raw footage next week. Marc says the DVD will follow a week later. However, when someone has lied to you, when do you know if they are telling the truth?

For you girls who haven't gotten your money back, keep calling or go over there if you can. I think a face-to-face visit is the only way to get your money back.

Hi girls,

You are not going to believe this!
My DH called Marc yesterday to make sure he would have our raw footage ready (as he had promised) on Tuesday night. When he called Marc's cell, he got a message saying the phone wasn't accepting incoming calls! So he called and left a message on the work phone that he'd stop by after his class (my DH teaches one night a week in Dix Hills, not too far from Marc).
When DH stops by, a light is on upstairs, but when he goes to the office, he finds a note from Marc apologizing for not being there--he had to go to the emergency room because he swallowed glass!

I have kept the note because it is just too outrageous!

I thought the cell phone thing was strange, so I wanted to alert anyone trying to reach him. Now we are just left with leaving messages on the work phone.
Ug.

Girls- if he had my footage I would literally camp outside his door until I got it from him. Then I would take it to a reputable company and ask them to edit it. Get your stuff out of this man's hands.

And if you lose $250 be thankful you didn't lose your video or full payment.

Has anyone actually lost their video or payment to him? I know that he does not return calls I was just wondering if anyone has actually had thier vidoe ruined by him?

I am still trying to get my raw footage and DVD.

After the 'swallowing glass' incident mentioned above, we spoke to Marc the flowing day and he promised to deliver the stuff to us that Thursday (that was the 3rd time we'd shown up and received nothing or he wasn't home). We called him twice on Thursday but he never showed and didn't respond to the calls (we kind of knew he wouldn't show but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt). Since then, we haven't been able to get him on the phone. We're going to try to stop by this weekend and keep calling. If we don't hear from him, we're going to send a certified letter asking for delivery of what he owes us. If that doesn't work, small claims court is next.

I'm curious if the other brides who canceled him got their money back.

I have yet to get my deposit back from Marc the glass swallower We sent him a certified letter explaining that we were cancelling our contract since we couldnt get him on the phone and the certified letter has just come back, 'Return to sender' so he really is trying to avoid us. Right now we dont have a case for small claims court because he hasnt done anything wrong except not return calls. Once he doesn't show up at the wedding we will have a case and will take him to court (don't worry we have hired someone else who will shoot the wedding). Good luck. Let me know how it turns out.

I'm so glad you got someone else.

We just reviewed the parent copies of our video and THEY ARE BOTH BLANK! Yes, he knowinlgy gave us blank videos and took our money. We feel so stupid for trusting this con artist. We had been too busy to check those tapes until now. I'm just glad we did it so our parents didn't try to watch blanks. Actually, one tape has footage of fireman talking on it! He didn't even give us clean tapes.

I guess we will personally have to deliver our court papers to him since he's not opening his mail.

Since we paid him (how stupid are we?) and he has not fufilled his side of the contract, we have a case.
Damn me for being trusting and wanting to think the best of people.

I can't believe jerks like this exist!
