Calling all girls that are getting married on 11/25/06!

I need your help. Did the church you are getting married in tell you that b/c Thanksgiving is on thursday that they do not have church rhersals on Friday (the day after Thanksgiving)??? My church has told me this and beause of that I have to have the church rhersal on the 17th of Nov. A week before the wedding.

I was just wondering is this just my church's rule or is this something that pertains to all churches.

I am getting married in St. Joseph's in Babylon.

We are having our rehersal that Mon - I think its better if you have the rehersal the week before anyway- wouldn't you rather relax and get yourself ready for your big day the next morning??? JMO

Hi Date Twin....this subject really grabbed my attention. Sorry I can't help you though - not getting married in a church. I am all for a RD the week before though - gives you time to relax the night before your wedding.

My RD is actually on Thanksgiving (no rehearsal needed so just dinner...rehearsal is day of before the ceremony)....so I plan to chill out with my BM's the night before and get a good night's sleep!

I see no problems with having the RH with the church a week before.. but I have family members who are traveling from NJ and they feel it's an inconvenience.. more particulary my Matron of honor feels this way over anyone else. She is from NJ. I understand that it is a slight invconveince for her..but there is nothing I can do if the church says it has to be done the week before.

Hi date twin!!! I am thrilled that my rehersal is the week before (11/16). I have soooo many out of towners and did not want to insult anyone by not inviting them to the rehersal. Also, I feel like everyone would be eating for 3 days staright between Thanksgiving, a Friday rehersal, and then the wedding on Saturday. It's one more thing to get out of the way and enjoy a day of pamering on the 24th!!! Yeah!!!! It's getting so close!!!!!!

By the way I'm getting married at St. Killian's in Farmingdale. :)

My rehearsal is Friday 11/24 in the evening and I'm getting married at St. Patricks in Bayshore. The only restriction was that we couldn't do the rehearsal on Thanksgiving day.

The walking down the aisle and stuff I am not worried about.. yes someone can brief her the night before. It's that I am being told by my church that the matron or maid of honor has to be at the church rhersal to sign the marriage license. I asked the church if it could just be signed the morning of my wedding and she said no, that this is done at the church rhersal. My MOH is being truly difficult to deal with. She has this warped idea that I should have been more understanding and I am the one that is inconveining her. She does not seem to get that this is the church's rules.. not mine. I gave my MOH the name and number to speak to the lady in the parish office so she can speak to her herself and get the same anwers I have been giving her! I guess after she speaks to the church, I will deal with what I have to then. Oh and get this... my moh asked if the church could mail whatever papers need to be signed to her..! UM hello is she a moron? That would be very nice if they could do that but I highly doubt it. Nice Aunt I have huh?

What She is being a little rude and I am sorry you have to deal with that! I am also getting married on the 25th and we are having our rehearsal on the Tuesday before (the 21st). I actually did not even ask about the Friday before because I did not want to do it that day, so I'm sorry I can't even tell you if the do it that day or not. I am so sorry that your MOH is acting like that, and hopefully once she talks to the lady at the Church, she will understand that this is not something that you chose to do. I'm sorry!!!!!

Hey date twin. I saw that you are getting married at St. Killian's in Farmingdale, and I just wanted to say that FH is from Farmingdale and that would have been the Church that we were getting married at the same day if we went with his Church. We were thinking about doing this because for some reason it was so hard to get a hold of the Priest in my Church (and you can only talk to the Priest at my Church to book the date). For a month in the beginning while we were starting our planning I was calling and leaving messages because we really wanted to lock in the date with our RH and then finally when I was just about to give him one last phone call before I went to St. Killian's, my Priest got on the phone when I called and we booked the date with him. That would have been funny though! It is such a beautiful Church - Congrats!!!

WOW Your MOH is being EXTREMELY rude and very uncooperative. I would tell her flat out that she needs to be there for the rehersal - if she can't make it could you ask one of your other bridesmaids to be your MOH? I know that sounds harsh - but I just feel with a little less than 4 months left of the wedding planning - you don't need this person complicating things, saying that it is a problem for HER to make the rehersal. Like you said you are NOT the one who said she needs to be here - its the church rules. I would not make things more stressing for yourself. If she can't make time to be at the rehersal because its too much trouble for HER than she isn't worthy of being your MOH...sorry I'm having a BAD day today and people like this aggravate me. Maybe because I'm always bending over backwards for my friends and I seem to be having problems with a few of them as I plan my wedding. I was there for EVERYTHING they needed for all of their weddings and all of the sudden the simpliest things are a problem for ALL of them

BTW, where are you all going on your HM? Is anyone going to Aruba? That is where FH and I are going. I can't wait
