calling all north ritz club brides(kinda long)

I just wanted to know if this was said to anyone else and what you did.

I went there last friday to show my mom the place(she's here from AZ for 3 weeks to help me). Ida showed us around and I asked her for the vendor list since i lost mine. She said its been updated since I booked last June and also asked me if I got the new menu (which i did not) but said it would be $10 additional a person if I upgraded to the new menu.

I was a little pissed off but I didn't know what my options were and if they could do that. We felt like because we got a decent deal on our price (it was before it was completed) that they were just trying to get more money from us. Also i was mad because when did they plan on telling us this??? We are also nervous that if we go with the orginal menu that they might skimp on it. So what did you girls do if this was said to you? Thank you!!

hmm...I go there so often just to check out the updates and I see Christina everytime. She has never said anything about it. Do you have the new menu? What is different? That is a little wierd!

call and ask to speak to gus - perhaps he can shed more light on the situation. whatever the deal is, that does seem uncool.
but also, it does seem normal that the vendor list would be updated since before they even opened.

Re: calling all north ritz club brides(kinda long)

the new menu has a better cocktail hour and more entree selections. You get to choose from 6-8 of these stations: pasta, carving board, crudite, mexican, mediterranean, crepe, duck, wok, barbecue, italian-cold and hot antipasto and saute plus it has 6 more hot d'oevres being passed and a larger cold hor d'oeuvres.

you only get a salad course ( the old menu had salad and pasta), but the salad is more appetizing. You can have things like a veggie tower, mozzarella & tomato, pears with goat cheese or sun-dried cranberries w/ walnuts and blue cheese.

The entree selections are chateaubriand, chilean sea bass ( 2 different ways), 4 different chickens, herb crusted salmon.

Has anyone dealt with Ida? I just get a bad feeling with her. When we booked she wasn't there yet. We dealt with Eddy, but I just found out he's gone.

what should i say to Gus? My FH and I are real chickens when it comes to that. I feel like i'm stuck since we booked already.

Re: calling all north ritz club brides(kinda long)

Hey girls, would anyone be able to fax me the new menu. Sned me forum mail and I can send you back my fax number.

I have my planning meeting in 2 weeks. When I asked the girl what I needed to bring, she said just my menu. I thought that was odd. I figured they have tons there. FI and I said we would just conveniently forget to bring it and see what happens. We had a feeling the menu had been upgraded since I booked in June 2001. The food on the old menu was fine with me but now I have the same concerns as others. They better not skimp on food!

Thinking maybe if I see the new menu me and FI can be prepared before the meeting to ask the necessary questions or even make some calls in advance.

Re: calling all north ritz club brides(kinda long)

I dealt with Ida, she was very nice and accomodating. Anyway, I would definately talk to her about the upgraded menu, maybe you can negotiate with them for something less than $10. Also, at this late a date they should just throw it in especially if you just found out about it. Good Luck!!!

Re: calling all north ritz club brides(kinda long)

I dealt with Ida and she's been great. I booked NRC a couple of months ago and it had the new menu. With their renovations pretty complete, it doesn't surprise me that they upgraded their menus and are charging more per head for those that booked in 2002. I don't think you girls need to worry since there have been reviews here this year and everyone said there was a lot of food.

Re: calling all north ritz club brides(kinda long)

I think I have the new menu. It is on brown, spongelike paper, 9 pages long (actual menu), and it says I can choose 8 of the 12 stations. I am quite confused!

Re: calling all north ritz club brides(kinda long)

OCT- Thanks for the menu. It is helping me to formulate questions for my planning meeting. My FI and I are kind of confused by the new menu. It doesn't clearly define what your choices are. Looking it over, it sounds good but our old menu isn't too bad.

The only thing we would really like to upgrade would be our fish and maybe chicken entries. This was something we wanted to do since we booked. They said we can do it at the planning meeting. I like some of the pass arounds at the cocktail hour better but it doesn't kill me if I don't get them.

I wonder about a couple things ... like the salad (they told us when we booked the salad comes with the grilled veggies but looking at the old menu it doesn't say that!).

Well, my planning meeting is in about 2 weeks...so we shall see then.

Re: calling all north ritz club brides(kinda long)

im not having my reception at the nrc but i can tell you that where we are having our wedding they change there menus every 6 months they upgrade! when we booked back in feb with russos on the bay they had 10 choices now they have 12 that the guests can choose from! they have added a whole lobster which wasnt there when we booked and we dont pay extra for that! our price p.p stays the same whether they have 8 or 15 choices so to me it sounds like they are trying to get you for more money and i would fight that! its not your problem if they upgrade there menu it is to there benefit anyways b/c then the guests may have a better feel for the hall and may want to hold there own parties there! its there way of getting there name and reputation out there! good luck
