Hi girls, As most of you know...I am getting married at OHEKA in October. For a long time I was one of only two Oheka Brides on this board with a wedding coming up in 2003 or 2004. All of a sudden new OHEKA brides are on the boards! From reading your posts I see we are at similar planning stages! I think we should all trade stories on what we have done and what we have left and what vendors we like and prices we got, how we are decorating, what centerpieces etc. It could be EXTREMELY HELPFUL.
So...I'll start:
All I have done: OHEKA - contract signed BAND and cocktail music - contract signed (Hank Lane) PHOTOGRAPHER - deposit down (Creative Compositions) FLORIST- interviewed flower michele, fleurs de florissima and Atlantic...no decision yet...but HIGH QUOTES Especially at the florist I liked the best DRESS--no decision yet NOTHING ELSE DONE

Re: Calling all OHEKA Brides!!!!!
I am so glad that their are others! I think it is a great idea to correspond.
All I have done so far is book the castle and set the date (9/18/04). I also picked out my bridesmaid dresses (lazaro), but we will probably wait a couple of months until we order them. I also found the perfect wedding gown (Amsale from the Blue Line Collection), but I am going to keep looking for a couple of months.
I am having my ceremony at the castle as well as the reception. So I need to find a rabbi and a priest to officiate.
We have not contacted the band yet, but we are planning on using Stephen Scott. My father knows the owner, so hopefully he will give us a good deal. I think florissima is the best in terms of flowers, but I have not gotten that far.

Annie-- FM
Booked OHEKA, got photographer, DJ, cocktail music, dress, have to order the BM dresses this summer.
Florist - I think the quote was a little over $8,000.
Lots of room and arrangements expected at OHEKA.

Hi Annie - did all my questions drive you to post this? LOL
I booked the castle (for 9/12/03) I got my dress!! My MoO got her dress and - well thats about it at the moment.
Looking at florests - cant decide between Flowers by Michelle and Scarcellas
Checked out a couple of bands - think I'm going with Sounds of Infinity
Meeting with a videographer tomorrow
Like you I'm so busy at work and I'm really getting to the point where I'm sooo tired.
But we'll make it through.

Re: Calling all OHEKA Brides!!!!!
Glad to find some other Oheka brides.
Here are my vendors:
Flowers by Michele -- Doing very minimal flowers (calla lily theme) for about $1500
DJ (I'm not really into the live bands) -- Spin Around Sound
Dress: Bridal Reflections (Lazaro trunk sale)
BM Dresses: Bought at RK Bridal, Jim Hjelm
Ceremony musicians: Sterling Music, string trio
Coctail hour music: pianist from Sterling music
Photographer: Bill Fredericks Studio, using Gabriel
Videographer -- thinking about hiring Wedding Reels (we just want someone to film, my FI does film editing as a hobby and wants to put the final video together himself)
Next on my list:
Buses from Manhattan to Oheka (since most of our guests are from the city) Can't think of any other vendors. I want to meet with Rick soon, though, cause our wedding is supposed to be in the Conservatory, which hasn't been completed, even though it was supposed to be done in February (then April, now who knows).

Re: Calling all OHEKA Brides!!!!!
I recently spoke with Rick - the room is to be completed Aug 1. they will be putting done a deep blue carpet and a fake dance floor. You know the ones that adjust to the size you need. I am disappointed about the carpet. I thought they were going to do parque floors but he said to much upkeep.

Re: Calling all OHEKA Brides!!!!!
I LOVE the wood floors in the ballroom but i am sure no matter what they do the room will be BEAUTIFUL....everything at OHEKA is done above and beyond...simple and yet very elegant...I have COMPLETE faith in them!

Re: Calling all OHEKA Brides!!!!!
Hi girls, my Fiance came up with a great idea when I joined this site and I got so excited that there were other Oheka brides on (past and present). How would it sound if we all met there one nite (I think it's Thursdays) for a dinner? It would be nice to meet all of you and compare notes in person Just a suggestion, but it would be fun.

Re: Calling all OHEKA Brides!!!!!
Hi Everyone, I am also an Oheka Bride. I discovered this board in February, and had only been a reader up to now. But, since there seem to be a few of us on board now, I deceided to join and hopefully we can help each other with the preporations. This is what I have accomplished so far;
Dress: Bridal Couture - Lazaro MOB: Bridal Reflections- Massapequa BP: Wedding Plaza -Baldwin Photgrapher- B rett M atthews- Roslyn Makeup & Hair - Fairytale Makeovers
I am in the process of looking for Video. I welcome any suggestions??
I am trying to follow a Medival Theme (but not too exteme) Are any of you?

Re: Calling all OHEKA Brides!!!!!
Thanks for the info on the room opening. It cuts a little close still, since I'm August 31, but I'll try to be reassured. That's my major concern right now, cause we're going to be too big for the ballroom, but I really don't want a tent.
I wonder what will happen to those girls who scheduled large weddings for July?
2untamed: Love your idea of the medeival theme. Very cool. Are you going to have trumpeters? I think they look so cool in pics I've seen, and so fitting for a castle wedding.
Patrice: That's a great idea about meeting up. Unfortunately, I've already had my tasting -- are we allowed to go for a second one?
So my FI and I are considering the jazz hour. Has anyone here been to one, or is planning to have one?
