Calling all you crafty ladies out there...HELP!
I know many of you wonderful ladies are very crafty, but I am not. I have a bridal shower on the 25th and I want to make something special for the bride to be. I have done towel cakes before but for this one I wanted something different. Does anyone have any ideas at all? Something not too hard but still special. Any ideas would be soooo appreciated!!!! Thanks so much!

One gift I received that was very special was a cookbook. My mom took family recipes and got recipes from family friends. She put them on recipe cards and put them in a photo album, alongside photos of the people that gave her the recipes. Now I have a nice momento not only of special recipes, but also the person the recipe came from.

At Sonicstef's shower her MOH got one of those polariod instant sticker cameras and took everyone's photo as they entered the room. Then placed the photos in a nice scrapbook and everyone wrote her a message. I loved the idea. And you don't have to be super crafty to do it either.
I think the towel cake is cute everytime. I have also made people photo albums and scrapbooks before.

The honeymoon bag is always cute. For my friend, we bought a cute but cheap tote bag and filled it with stuff for her honeymoon in Italy. travel guides, lira, sunblock, etc.For my SIL's, I gave her holiday decorations for every holiday but this was a gift a year in the making.
I have also made my friend a recipe book. Filled with fun recipes with my own commentary on what I made and my opinions.
One time someone gave the bride her everyday dishes. They gave her a huge bok of paper plates, cups, etc. Thought that was cute.
My mom bought my SIL a hamper and filled it with all bathroom supplies and stuff to stock a medicine cabinent (the bride and groom never lived on their own..so it was well needed).

For a more sentimental idea (although a little time consuming)...I had a friend who bought a beautiful journal book and went around to every and any woman who she knew who was married, from new brides to grandmothers, etc. and on each pageof the book, she had a woman write her advice on marriage, etc. At the bottom of the page, they signed their name and how many years they had been married. It was really touching flipping through it and reading all the different perspectives. Does that make sense? Its kind of hard to explain!!!

I have made my 'Rosie the maid' Doll. The body is an Ironing board, the hair a mop, then you put an apron on her, glove etc. If your interested email me and I can give you more detail. I will check home to see if I have a picture of her.

I recieved both a recipe book (combined recipes from all guests) as well as a honeymoon bag, and really appreciated both - neither one was too expensive or time consuming, but they're both great ideas :)

My HM bag contained suntain lotion, hair lightener (I'm ALMOST a real blonde!), scrapbook for photos, cute PJ sets for each of us, disposable underwater camera, and a few other things. My MOH had another idea in mind - to buy condoms, body oil and dirtier things as more of a joke! I guess it depends on the Bride-to-be and if she'll be opening it in front of her family!

I got a clothesline with five or six different pieces of lingerie clipped on with clothespins for my shower. My BM's put it in a laundry basket and proudly held it up when I was done opening gifts. It was hysterical! :)

Re: Calling all you crafty ladies out there...HELP!
One idea that I saw at a shower was a 'time of day' collection of baskets. A couple of friends gave this as a joint gift. The 'morning' basket was filled with coffee/tea mugs and boxes of hot chocolate, coffee and tea, chocolate spoons, bread and scone mixes; the 'afternoon' basket was filled with a picnic blanket, and some of the bride and groom's everyday dishes, silverware and glasses; the 'evening' basket was filled with some small pots, a recipe book, spices, etc. The last basket was my favorite - the 'late night snack' basket filled with sundae cups, ice cream scoop, fudge and caramel toppings, sprinkles, chopped peanuts, microwave popcorn and personalized popcorn bowls with the bride and groom's names on them.It might take some time to put together, and the cost could add up quickly, due to all the baskets and filler materials to secure everything. But, you could choose just one and pack it chock full of things you know the B&G love. Just have fun with it!
