Calling Bourne Mansion Brides past and future...

Hi ladies! I have a question and I hope you can help! FH and I are considering having our ceremony at the Bourne rather than in a church. If any of you had your ceremonies at the Bourne could you please send me pictures of how you decorated the room? Also if you have any other comments/suggestions about this I'd appreciate it! (i.e. regarding space in the room, ceremony timing, music, wording the invite etc.).

Also, there are a couple of 07 Bourne brides who want to have their ceremony outside preferrably (myself included) and we are running into trouble about this. Any info is appreciated!!

The outside ceremony is a no. I have asked them several times and St.Johns does not allow it.

I am decorating most of the mantles with candles.

Wording on the invite:

Mr. and Mrs BRIDES Parents
and
Mr. and Mrs. GROOMS parents
request the pleasure of your company
in the marriage of their children
Ida
and
Eric
on Friday, the seventh day of September
two thousand seven
at six o'clock in the evening

The Bourne Mansion
500 Montauk highway
Oakdale, New York.

Ida......we have the EXACT same wording for our invite (except for the names and date).

Really?? HAHA!! Too funny.

I believe the bathrooms are being installed already...thats what I heard. The fixtures came in last week.

Have you heard any other news?

haven't heard anything about the bathrooms, but when my FMIL was there she saw the vanities were already delivered.

I'm crossing my fingers.

Oh.... and one of the other brides had picks of 3 people walking down the aisle and it was too tight. If that helps, we had to re-arrange becasue of that fact

I haven't heard any news about the bathrooms, but I am really aggravated over not being able to have an outdoor ceremony! Does anyone recall whether or not this was stated in the contract? My FH doesn't think it was and he said that he remembers Ben telling us when he gave us a walk-through that the grounds are available for ceremonies.

RANT: We are all paying lots of $$ for the Bourne and the use of it's grounds! IMO it's RIDICULOUS to have such beautiful property and not allow couples to use it for their ceremony, especially when they are shelling out thousands and thousands to have their wedding there!

trust me the church does NOT allow it. In the contract or not.

FYI ---there is a $500 ceremony fee.

You probably just didn't discuss it at the signing.
My FH has been in touch with everyone who can help (including a bishop, (which is funny because he's jewish)), and we just hit a brick wall with the ceremony.

I know. I am upset about the ceremony situation too.

I know its not stated on the contract, but Ben specificially told me no when I asked.

There are only couples walking down the aisle, and we are only having 125 people, so i dont think it will be too tight.

I'm so excited about the bathrooms!! That was a concern of mine and we are all so lucky that they are doing this in time for our weddings! phew!

Yea, don't worry. Your wedding will be so beautiful, even without the ceremony outside. Your guests will probably prefer to be inside anyway, it will be air conditioned and quiet.

The bathroom situation is awesome though!

Hey Girls,

I finally got an answer on the bathroom situation. My FH never got a call back from Ben of course. So he decided to call Steve our Matrid. He said that the bathrooms have not been started yet.
But he doesn't see why they would not be done by our wedding which is July. I don't know.

Also Steve said we have to come in and meet with him to go over the floor plan and menu. I didn't think we would have to do it this so soon but its exciting!!

I asked about having the wedding outside as well, before we signed the contract, and they said they can't do it. Sorry! We will be married in the ceremony room too. I think it's beautiful, although it will be a tight squeeze.

Summer07, just out of curiosity, when are you meeting with Steve? I haven't done anything yet and I'll be married the day before you!
