Calling Kleinfeld Brides

For anyone who has been to Kleinfeld's:
I am having a difficult time finding the dress. I found a dress that I really like, but not sure if it's the one and I thought to try Kleinfeld's in Brooklyn. It's really far from where I live, so I wanted to hear people's experiences to help me decide if it's worth the trip. Thanks everyone.

They were fantastic. Absolutely a dream. My consultant was like a gushing mommy (Vivian was her name, you can request her), my seamstress was an artist (Maria C.). The whole experience from beginning to end was fabulous.

You will get a lot of different responses (some don't like the occasional snooty-ness), the best thing you can do is make an appointment with a consultant that someone else recommends and see for yourself how you like the place. The only thing you know for sure with them is that their reputation precedes them, and if you order your gown there, it will arrive on time and your seamstress will be fantastic. I believe they do help arrange for car services if you are very far away.

I found scheduling fitting appointment to be a pain. You can only schedule 1 appointment at a time and if you work, the appointments after work are very limited (like 5pm or 8pm). The appointments run late so often times I would sit waiting for my seamstress to finish up with another bride. Also they have one rate for alterations (around $400 if I remember correctly) so if your dress doesn't require much work then the fee is high.

But I have to say their seamstresses do a very good job. I bought my dress from one of their sample sales and the dress had to be altered down several sizes.

Since you mentioned that you would be traveling from a distance, you might want to find a local seamstress for alterations if you end up buying a dress from them. I was traveling from Manhattan to Brooklyn by subway for the fittings.

So far I have loved every minute of my Kleinfeld experience. My dress consultant (or whatever they're called) was Judith - I highly recommend her. She found the perfect dress for me!
Even though they are expensive, I recently went there for my veil and tiara as well because I love their service and selection. I flew in from St. Louis, so wherever you are can't be that far!
