Calling people with 2 dogs/past or present
I am seriously considering getting another dog. I have a puppy 1 year old female beagle. I walk, her 1 or 2x a day. She is very playfull, but always looks so lonely. I feel so bad. Will it be twice the work, on my part. DH, does not help out. He does not walk her at all/nor feed her. I always have to remind him to clean the backyard. She is alot for me, I must say, I am in school now and work FT. But, I was wondering if maybe, the 2nd company of another dog would help her out?ETA: I was thinking maybe another smaller dog

We have three ... and I can tell you I am late in the morning often trying to make sure they've all eaten and all done their business. But we'd still have ten more dogs if we could handle it!

Wow, 3......
I am always late in the morning too. But, I just don't know if I can handle it.
. I feel so bad leaving her alone, if I go out. I always leave the tv/radio on for her for company.

Re: Calling people with 2 dogs/past or present
I had three before we got married, now 2 live with my mom b/c my lease only allows for one dog.I will tell you that my pug has become a little destructive & we have to keep him fenced into the kitchen where he can do the least damage, he insists on sleeping on our bed now (which he never did before) and seems sad when we leave. He was never like this before when he lived with the other dogs.
It was also easier to train him b/c he watched the other dogs go out.
It is almost like he is more work alone compared to taking care of multiple dogs.
Also, smaller dogs sometimes = more work....some smaller breeds can be very hyper & wirey......makesure you do a through breed profile to make sure you get a good match!

Re: Calling people with 2 dogs/past or present
I have had a show kennel. If your making one bowl it is not that much longer to do 2. Letting them out is easier and they are much more content with having another dog since they are pack animals. Especially beagles. Please do a breed profile so you end up with something compatible to what you have and are willing to put up with the pro and cons of each breed. For example you might like a PBGV a breed compatible to a beagle in size and temperament. But know they are both hounds and 'free of voice' meaning they could be noisy. NO PET STORES! No matter how cute. And please neuter also. Mutts are also great. You get a pretty great genetic mixture with a mutt! I think your beagle will thank you!

Re: Calling people with 2 dogs/past or present
I'm with everyone else. Two is easier than one. Angel is a very needy dog so I could just imagine the problems I was going to have with her around the baby (attention hogging, etc.). But now that she has Sprinkles, they keep each other very occupied. I feel so fortunate that they meshed so well together. It's like they're conjoined twins most of the time (sleeping on top of each other, playing together, chasing each other around, etc.). If you dare to take one out in the car w/o the other, they go into depressions. And Sprinkles learned so much faster than Angel did just about everything because she learned from example.

I have 3 great puppies. All the time we say we wish we only had 'one', but then we realize what joy they bring into our lives. They truely are 3 x the work though. My FH does not help out at much at all, so I walk them, which is a pain because I can only walk 2 at a time. One is always getting left out. Feeding them, making sure they always have water. They love each other though and play all the time. If you get another one, just be ready for it!Welcome New Vendors
