FH met me at the door and hands me an envelope from a friend of his that couldn't make the wedding....beautiful card a check.
Now does he get 2 thank you cards...one now and one when we get our after the wedding?

Agree...just one. If your wedding was further away I would consider sending it before but I think a call from FH is nice until he gets the Wedding Thank you

Yeah I agree.. wait till wedding thank yous go out to send.. FH could call and thank him informally. For my shower, I received a lot of gifts before it (I didn't know when it was) so I just sent a text email or called the person thanking them, and then I will write them a thank you card like everyone else

informal thanks now so that they know you got it, followed by the thank you card after the wedding :)

We waited to deposit all checks we got before the wedding till we got back from the honeymoon. We didn't want the guests that could not make our big day to think we used the money to pay for our wedding. I would wait to send the Thank You until after you guys are 'Man and Wife'
