Can a child be baptized if one parent is not Catholic?

Can a child be baptized if one parent is not Catholic?

Having been raised in a very Catholic family, I know this question probably sounds ridiculous to some of you...but here it goes:

Do both parents need to be Catholic in order for the children to be baptized?

FH is okay with me having our future children baptized. However, he does not belong to any particular religion, and he does not wish to do so.

I really want to say yes. But I don't know 100%. I'm fairly certain though.

Yes. FH is. His mom is catholic and dad is jehova's witness.

Anyone know for sure if this is at the specific church or priest's discretion?...and if so, anyone know of any specific examples of churches that do or don't allow it?

That's one thing I'm concerned about. FH's father was Jewish, mother was Catholic. He wasn't raised anything at all, and both parents gave up their religions when they married and didn't teach him about them or much about their cultures either...so while I feel like he's been opening up more to spiritual things, he's currently pretty much agnostic. He respects that it matters to me and that I want my children to be a part of it, but at this point in time, he doesn't want to be a part of any organized religion...so he wouldn't declare himself anything...

Yes. I am Catholic, my FH is Episcopal. Our son is baptized Catholic. You can baptize a child catholic as long as one parent is catholic. However, for godparents, one MUST be catholic, and the other some form of christianity. You can't have one Catholic godparent and one Jewish. The church wont allow it. I just went through all of this in April. HTH!
