Re: Can anyone help me get toned?
Lighter weights + more reps = toned Heavier weights + less reps = muscles

and make sure you don't rely on momentum. really use the muscle, don't just go through the motions. good luck!

Re: Can anyone help me get toned?
i would break up your upper body routine into two days a week: bi's/back one day and tris/shoulders another day. once you get more advanced, you can break it up even more, but i'd suggest this for a beginner.
if youre looking to tone your arms, but want a lean look, i'd probably start off with 8 pound dumbbells and do 3 sets of 15-20 reps for each exercise. if this is too easy, bump up the weight to 10 pound dumbbells.
its kinda hard to describe exercises over a forum, and you cant really learn proper form/control w/o physically observing it, so i suggest that you maybe hire a trainer for 1-2 sessions to show you basic exercises that you can do on your own. i also find some of the fitness magazines very helpful--oxygen is my favorite.
HTH!

Additionally it is always important to incorporate cardio into your workouts.
Do you go to a gym? If so, try taking some strength classes. Youll be amazed at how much you learn and then you can take that info out onto the floor

I love the classes at the gym, i take total body conditioning and club strength at NYSC. Different trainers, you get different workouts and variations.

I find for arms sticking to the good old pushup and variations of it works great. You should also include dips for the tricep.
