Can anyone help us?

FH & I are in a dilemma, he has a VW Golf and just put over $1000 into the car to fix it, then him & his brother were trying to put in the starter and his bro drilled through a wire and now the car wont start!

FH doesn't know what to do, he cant figure out what's wrong and no one else can figure it out. If he brings it to a mechanic it's going to be $100+ an hour just to LOOK at it.

We're so tight on money right now and he can fix it if he knew what was wrong, going to a mechanic is our last resort but we're trying to avoid spending another few hundred dollars.

Does anyone know someone who knows VW's and maybe have suggestions as to what might be wrong?

He can try posting online. There is a forum called VW Vortex the people on there will probably be pretty helpful, or might be able to suggest a mechanic other then the dealer.
