Some of songs that are important songs at the reception we would prefer the originals. I know bands are great but the father/daghter dance is from an opera and probably wouldn't sound good on electric guitar. Can anyone help?

yes they usually can....they usually have a cd player in their equipment....mine does...just ask the band that you book.

I dont think they would normally have one with them, but it doesn't hurt to ask them (or to request it)

i think that most would... also depends on the size of the band. the reason i say this... if it's a smaller band... they need to take a 'potty' break every now and again.
mine will be playing some recorded music. i can't imagine a 'southern rock' band playing salsa and merengue

I would say yes. just let them know in advance, so that they have what they need with them. My girlfriend gave her band Armenian music on CD and they played it.
