Can I give some advice

When you are at your reception, don't feel that you have to go around and say hello to each and every person at every table-even if you are going around to pick up envelopes. Try to buy or make a box for people to come up and put in their envelopes as well as say hello. This will save you a tremendous amount of time that you should be using to enjoy yourself, on YOU and YOUR HONEY'S SPECIAL DAY. Believe me, the day goes by SO FAST! When you have been waiting for a year, then 6 months, then 1 month, then 1 week, then POOF! it's over. Just try to enjoy every single second. :-)

Can I give some advice... I respectfully disagree : )

On your wedding day your guests are there to share the day with you, so it is considered good manners to greet every single guest personally, even the ones who you have never met before. It's also a good idea to work the room to make sure people are enjoying themselves. After all, they are your guests, and as their hosts, that is your responsibility. I had well over 200 guests, and it was not bothersome to check in with them from time to time. In fact I wanted to, since they were kind enough to come and celebrate with Patrick and me.

Well said, JennRenee: I respectfully disagree too...

I greeted most of my guests during the receiving line at the church and the last half of my cocktail hour. I was still able to mingle with guests, and make sure that everyone was enjoying themselves at the reception. I don't feel one bit like I didn't get to enjoy my day - part of my enjoyment was sharing my happiness with the people I love. It is truly important that the bride and groom thank each guest for coming to share their special day with them.

Imade sure that I went to everyone's table twice. and let me tell you that my parents are still getting that Mitch and I were fantastic hosts...I sat down for 2 minutes ..and that was because my Bridal Attendant made me sit. I also was so caught up in the whole day that I did not eat a thing...But Mitch and I walked around together and spoke to everyone. We danced with our friends and had a geat time.. this is what i will remmeber about my wedding. That i had a great time with my friends and family and I was greatful that they were all able to be there...

In defense of Michelle...

I think its quite possible to have greeted all of your guests several times during the wedding yet still have to spend the last hour 'collecting' envelopes. I, like most guests, wait until the end of the night to give the envelope to the bride & groom. Usually I have to stand in a line so I can do this. And frankly, I would prefer to put my envelope in a box rather than have to carry it around all night. Of course, this doesnt substitute for spending time with each guest but it helps avoid the awkwardness for the guests and the couple.

Talking to guests

I have to say that at the wedding where the bride and groom DIDN'T make it to our table for a 2 minute chat, I felt like we weren't as important as the tables where they sat down and chatted. My FH and I have already discussed and agreed that we will see EACH table at the reception as a result of this past experience. It is good manners, considering the expense many guests go through to come, and the fact they they give a gift on top of it all. It is the very least we can do to show our appreciation for their effort to make our day special.

Talking to guests

I TOTALLY agree. You are hosts and as such it is your responsiblity to greet your guests. I plan on spending time with each of my guests at my reception. My guests are the people that I want to share my day with. If all I wanted to do was dance with some friends, I would go to a club.

Talking to guests

Okay I can tell you that I definetly didn't sit and chat with every table infact there were some guest I didn't get to talk to at all. We did have a long receiving line at the church and I mingled a bit during cocktail hour. Do you think that people are thinking we were rude?
