Re: ...Can I invite
is your ceremony at your RH??
if your ceremony is not at the RH then i don't see why others can not go to just the ceremony. what do you mean by invite though? you can tell people when your ceremony is even if they are not invited to the reception.

Re: ...Can I invite
The ceremony is at my church and then the reception about 20 minutes down the block. My thing is there are a lot of people I would love to come but I cannot afford them all to attend the Reception. I don't even want a gift from them, I just want them to enjoy the ceremony with me.
But FH said this is rude and people will think I'm only inviting them for a gift if they don't get an invite for the reception.

I don't think you can send them actual invites if they are not invited to the reception. But I thinks its ok to share the church info with them so they can come if they want to!

Ok. so then I will tell people the church info but NOT send them invitations. Will people be offended? Especially since they have to get up so early?

you can definitely tell people via word of month when & where your ceremony is. people do that all the time.

See, I didn't think it was so uncommon at all. I really think I'm going to do it.

not uncommon at all. FH & I wanted to have a small wedding so we are only inviting 120 people to the reception, but we have lots of friends who already asked us the time of the Church so they can come. you do not give them an invitation just word of month.

Re: ...Can I invite
A girl at my job did this last year. She gave out invites to coworkers only to the church. It caused alot of confusion . Some people thought that they were invited to the reception also. Also- which I thought was horrible- people were saying she did it only because she wanted gifts. It caused alot of hurt feelings.
Mind you- this is just a story of what happened here at work. It doesnt mean the same thing will happen to you.
But I think I would do it just by word of mouth.

Re: ...Can I invite
my mom goes to churches all the time when she is not invited to the reception. she always gets the info word of mouth.
some of FH's students' parents asked if they could come to the church even though they wont be invited to the reception. the more the merrier!

Re: ...Can I invite
Thanks ladies! I definitely don't want to hurt people's feelings ya know? But there are tons of people that assume they're invited and I surely don't mind them coming to the church, I'm just not close enough to them to pay an 80 dollar plate for them.
Tons to think about

That makes me feel better for sure! I will just do word of mouth.
