The tissue taffeta is supposedly a lighter material so it doesn't seem like it would be heavy...but I haven't gone down to have one of my girls try it on yet. Thanks for all the points to consider...especially the fact that the pickups may come out. I would have never thought of it.
I would definitely pick your dress first... you want to limit your BM dress choices by what you pick for yourself, not the other way around.
You might want to wait to make sure your dress isn't too similar to the BM dresses, or that the level of 'fanciness' is the same... you don't want to pick a super formal BM dress and then fal in love with a more casual, slinky wedding dress.
Definitely pick your dress out first. My girlfriend whose wedding i was in had a gorgeous dress with pick-ups. IMHO i thought the BM dresses with the pick-ups and her dress with the pick-ups was too much...it took away from her dress.
