if they are not busy, they will do it. They will do your makeup for free, if you buy a certain amt of products. I've been to 1 mac where u had to buy 5 things...another where you had to spend $50. If you call ahead of time you can make an appt, and find out what their policy is

my friend always goes to the mac counter in bloomies at roosevelt, and her makeup always comes out awesome! It is also a lot quieter in there. good luck and post pics!

you have to buy $50 worth of products & the make-up application is free. dont go on the weekend though because it is a mad house (macy's @ roosevelt field)

i went 2 clinique once in macy's & they did it for free, dont know if you are partial to mac though.

I understand, I'm on a budget as well. I'm also trying Maureen Pedala today. Her trial is free even if you don't book her.
She's in the city and I work nearby. I'm not sure if that works for you. If you want I'll let you know how it goes.

I called Mac in Macys at Smith haven mall - I have an appt 6/28/08 and they said no charge but that I should buy at least the lip color...we'll see if I like it first

I would try one of the other make-up counters- lancome and estee lauder will usually do it if they are not busy.
at the end of the trial, tell them you want to get feedback from your fh/friends and if they like it maybe you'll come back to get the make-up.

great thread! I did mine at the mac at 34th st, macys and didn't like it at all. i'm going to check out these other ones.
