Can it get worse or even better??? Prayers needed.

Ok many of you know my tale of woe. You all are an amazing bunch for reading. I just need to get this out because I just got home. I normally would be venting with co-workers.

My grandma who has been in a nursing home since May had to be transported out of the one she was in because they closed the vent unit. It was extremely convenient for us because it was literally 2 minutes away. My mom who is handicapped was able to visit her every day because it was not far to walk.

My grandmother is now further from us and where she is now, it was too long for my mom to walk, so I visit her every day. She is dying from cancer and she basically is a vegetable. No response what-so-ever.

I go visit my grandma tonight and she has maggots, yes maggots in her mouth and nose. She is now going to the hospital so they can find out where they are coming from. The staff looked at me like I had lobsters crawling out of my ears when I told them.

This woman has gone through so much why can't God take her already???

She had breast cancer in April, as soon as she came out of surgery it set off dementia and she went nuts, she slipped into a coma and we had to call for an ambulance. They put her on a vent. (she had no proxy so the hospital made the decision because we were not at the hospital yet.) She had surgery just before she left the nursing home because she had a bedsore that was going to her bone. Like I have said, there is no response. She is not in that body any more. It just hurts to see her this way. Animals are treated better. Sorry so long girls.

so sorry - my grandmother suffered a lot before she passed....it's terribly painful to have to go through.

Thanks so much ladies. I know I have been feeling sorry for my self lately. I have been trying to keep a stiff upper lip but I am a real softy. Plus, my grandma was like a mom because she has lived with us my whole life. So she was like a mom and I feel like alot of stuff is falling on me bcause my mom can not go every day. I guess in a way it is good I am losing my job so I can spend more time at the nursing home. I am just glad I went because I don't think they would have seen the maggots or maybe it would have been to late. Is this a sick story. I can't believe this happening.

Are you going to report them to the board of health? I think someone should know about this. I'm so sorry that this his happening. You are obviously a very strong person, but it's still very hard. We are here if you need ANYTHING!

OMG-I am so sorry jen--that must be so hard for you to see---I cannot even imagine. My prayers are with you....God will take her when it is her time, in the meantime, your 'labor' is not in vain-- Keep the Faith!

I am so sorry. My prayers are with you and your family. I work in a nursing home and would definately recommend calling the health department and reporting the situation.

I am SO sorry that you are going through this. You have no need to feel guilty about feeling sorry for yourself...you are entitled with everything that's been going on lately. We are all here for you!

Ok That is completely unacceptable that the nursing home allowed your grandmother to have maggots!!! Someone needs to answer for that! If i were you, I would contact every state agency and medical board I could. How dare they!
