Is anyone else realizing that it seems their fiancee cannot seem to do anything themself and you have to do everything from making dr. appts. for them to doing all the laundry, etc????? It always seems like they are so independent and capable when you are dating!!!!!!!!

Re: Can Men Do Anything Themselves?!?!
If anyone asked me to call and make a Dr's appointment for them, I would seriously question my 'role' in their life. Stop doing stuff like that! You are his wife, not his mother. Train him early!

Re: Can Men Do Anything Themselves?!?!
I totally feel your pain! My FH doesn't even hang his towel up to dry after a shower. I'm constantly picking up after him. And when he has to do something on his own, like shop or get dinner or something, I get a million phone calls asking me questions about what to get, blah blah blah. I think it has to do with the fact that his mother and sisters did everything for him!
I think that is exactly right- esp. if they lived on their own and fended for themselves for awhile!

Re: Can Men Do Anything Themselves?!?!
although my FH is similar in some ways to some of your FH I have to give him a little credit. He recently moved out of his house w/ his mom for the 1st time and it was rough at first but he is getting better. Right now since we don't have a washer/dryer in our apartment his mother is doing his laundry. I don't live in teh apartment yet b/c I go to school & live there but he is trying--I have found that w/ men they need a little discipline & although they have had everything done for them in the past it is just a matter of you being a little stern & telling them that they have to do things and it is not up to you to run thier lives--you aren't their secretary you are their wife. My FH is starting to realize that things will be different now that he is living on his own & has a whole apartment rather than 1 little room to live in. He still does stupid things and doesn't always know how to clean up after himself but it could be a lot worse. Good luck & try to get him to do his own stuff!

Re: Can Men Do Anything Themselves?!?!
They can be so paiful, no joke! Like, if he does the dishes, he leaves the forks in the sink! If you are doing the dishes, do all the freaking dishes! I can see how this can wear a woman thin, no wonder my mom is so tired!

Things they can do themselves:
1. Leave the seat up.
2. Drink out of the milk/juice carton
3. Not empty the dishwasher. Just take the clean dishes out as they need them.
4. Pay for take out but God forbid cook.

Re: Can Men Do Anything Themselves?!?!
My FH is great in some areas and severly lacking in others. For example, he never has a problem helpinh with laundry or doing the dishes. But ask him to go food shopping or make an appointment for the Dr. and he is CLUELESS!

Re: Can Men Do Anything Themselves?!?!
Overall, mine is very helpful, and he takes care of his own stuff (doctor's appts., etc.). He's been very helpful with the wedding planning also.
At times he drags his feet when a big decision needs to be made, but overall, I can't complain. I think we're a nice balance actually. I tend to want to settle things quickly and make a decision fast, where as he considers all the factors carefully. So he keeps me from making big mistakes, and I push him along when he needs it.

Re: Can Men Do Anything Themselves?!?!
It's so interesting that you posted this message. I recently vented to a married friend of mine who told me to take a reality check on my expectations. She said the woman is the CEO of the relationship---that's just the way it is. It is our job to delegate and run the household---because we see the big picture, while men simply see 2 feet in front of their face (or should I say 5 inches in front of their face....ehem). She also advised that I take over the bills. She said I'd be a happier woman for it! I suppose after seeing what some of my divorced female relatives and friends went through and how little control they had over the money---I think that was sound advice. Just passing on pearls of wisdom from a married friend. Good luck girls!
